I've been eager to try the D'Alba White Truffle Double Serum and Cream, so I applied for The Hwahae Testers every chance I got. Given its popularity, it was quite challenging to get selected. After numerous attempts, I finally got lucky this time and had the opportunity to use it. I'll share my review after using it thoroughly during the trial period. I love that I can mix it according to my skin's needs and condition. It's brilliant how they came up with the idea of a half-and-half cream where you can blend the Aqua Serum and Intense Cream as desired. While there have been other dual-texture creams before, they usually come pre-mixed in a fixed ratio, which wasn't particularly impressive. D'Alba's approach is different - like a jjamppong and jjajangmyeon combo, you can visibly see the two textures separated. When my skin needs more hydration, I mix two parts of the transparent gold Aqua Serum with one part of the rich Intense Cream. If my skin is particularly dry or when I'm prone to blemishes before my period, I reverse the ratio to boost my skin's protective barrier. For everyday use, a 1:1 ratio provides just the right amount of moisture and softness. Sometimes I even use just the Aqua Serum or the Intense Cream alone. It's fun and useful to be able to adjust my skincare routine with just one product based on my skin's condition. You might wonder if mixing any serum or cream would give the same result as the D'Alba half-and-half cream. The answer is no! I tried mixing similar lightweight hydrating serum-gel creams with rich creams to mimic D'Alba's product, as I couldn't test it in-store and the price was a bit steep to buy without trying. While mixing products was better than using just one, it still couldn't match the performance of the original D'Alba cream. The D'Alba half-and-half cream is specifically designed to be mixed, resulting in better blending, absorption, and finish compared to mixing separate products. However, whether this difference justifies the higher price may vary for each individual, so I recommend trying it yourself to decide. Given its price point, it comes in luxurious packaging that makes for a great gift for adults. Personally, I think D'Alba is suitable for people about ten years older than me, but I've noticed it's popular among those closer to my mother's age. The packaging is quite nice, considering the price, and it's not exorbitantly expensive when purchased during promotions, making it a good gift option. D'Alba's mist serum is used by people of all ages, from my peers to those younger or older like my aunts or mom. This half-and-half cream, with its attractive appearance and unique mixing concept, would likely be well-received as a gift. While I might not purchase it for myself, I'd be happy to receive it as a gift and would consider buying it as a present for older adults.
If I had to point out a downside, it would be the price or value for money. The main drawback for me is more about the price than the product itself. While perceptions of cost can vary from person to person, and some might not find it expensive, I personally find the regular price of 78,000 won for 70g a bit steep. I probably wouldn't purchase it at full price for my own use. However, during sales or promotions, the price can drop to around 40,000 won, so I'd recommend looking out for these deals if you're interested but find the price burdensome. The quantity isn't particularly small compared to other creams, but it seems to run out quickly. While the 70g of the D'Alba half-and-half cream isn't a small amount compared to typical 30ml or 50ml creams, I find it depletes faster than expected. This might be due to the mixing aspect, or perhaps I'm not good at controlling the amount. It seems I end up using twice as much as I would with other creams, although this does result in more hydration. Also, depending on individual preferences, you might end up using one texture more quickly than the other, which can be a bit disappointing.
Using the D'Alba half-and-half cream together with the mist serum provides even more hydration. When my skin feels particularly dry, I apply the D'Alba White Truffle Double Serum and Cream mixed in my desired ratio, then spray the D'Alba White Truffle Mist Serum over it. This significantly extends the moisturizing effect. My routine involves using the mist serum as a toner right after cleansing, then applying the half-and-half cream (mixed in a 1:2 ratio of Aqua Serum to Intense Cream), gently pressing it into my skin with warm hands for better absorption, and finishing with another layer of the mist serum in a sandwich method. Even without using additional serums or ampoules, the combination of the half-and-half cream with its built-in Aqua Serum keeps my skin hydrated until morning without feeling dry or lacking.
