This product is an absolute gem for those times when your skin is acting up. I always reach for this when even the gentlest soothing creams or toners sting my skin (a sign of a compromised skin barrier). Some say the texture is heavy, and I agree it's quite rich, so I only apply it at night. Personally, I found the B5+ version works much better for me than the regular B5 (my skin type is between dry and oily). I've heard some people experience small bumps, but that's likely from applying too much. Here's my technique: I squeeze a small amount onto the back of my hand, then lightly coat my fingertips before layering it onto my face. When I wake up, it's fully absorbed, leaving my skin with a beautiful glow and a noticeably stronger barrier. The only downside is the price - it's quite expensive. However, it's worth every penny, so I can't really consider the cost a major drawback. The product volume is small. There's also a slight eye irritation, but it's not too bothersome. It might work well when used alongside retinol. Apply thinly! - db*****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 5, 2025
I've been consistently using this product for over a month now! Given its rich texture, I tend to apply it more often at night. It's excellent for soothing the skin. When I apply a thick layer after extracting blemishes, I notice a significant reduction in inflammation. I used to experience frequent redness, but since using this product regularly, it's completely disappeared. I plan to use this forever! The rich texture might feel a bit heavy for some, which is why I only use it at night. Occasionally, I apply a thick layer all over my face like a mask before bed. The next morning, my skin looks absolutely flawless! - la*******Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedJul 1, 2025
As someone with super sensitive skin, I've tried countless soothing creams, but La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 truly stands out as a back-to-basics champion. Its slightly thick balm texture creates an instant moisture barrier when applied to dry or irritated areas. The nearly fragrance-free formula makes it perfect for sensitive skin, and I noticed a definite calming effect when I applied a thin layer to blemishes or areas with dead skin cells. While it's not the quickest to absorb due to its balm consistency, applying a generous amount before bed left my skin beautifully hydrated and balanced by morning, creating the perfect canvas for makeup. Its versatility is a huge plus - it works wonders not just on the face, but also on dry areas like lips, elbows, and hands. A thin layer under makeup helps smooth skin texture, allowing foundation to glide on effortlessly. The rich texture might feel a bit heavy for those with oily skin or during summer months, and it can leave a slightly greasy finish on the T-zone. It's also worth noting that the price point is a bit on the higher side, which might be a consideration for some. - na*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessRednessDead Skin CellsJun 26, 2025
The dense formula seems ideal for dry, cracked skin with a compromised barrier. It's likely to provide much-needed nourishment and support. Unfortunately, I developed contact dermatitis... It appeared precisely where I applied the cream. I strongly advise against using this if you have a sensitive skin barrier. When trying new skincare products, it's always wise to patch test first, especially if you have sensitive skin or a history of reactions. What works for one person may not work for another due to individual skin differences. - wn*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedJun 21, 2025
When your skin acts up, this is your go-to remedy = "Skin First Aid Kit" A versatile multi-balm that calms, hydrates, and repairs the skin barrier (it's like having a dermatologist in a jar) Despite its rich texture, it feels comfortable and non-suffocating when applied Covers all bases: sensitive skin, blemish-prone, dry skin, and even "my skin's just gone haywire" situations With its perfect balance of hydration and oils, it's the ultimate choice for seasonal changes and when your skin is feeling super sensitive Instant shine factor = Great for oily skin at night, but might be too much for daytime use Focuses more on surface barrier protection than deep hydration, so it may not be enough as a standalone moisturizer Forget about using it as a makeup base - it's more like a barrier between your skin and foundation While consistent use shows results, don't expect miraculous changes for urgent acne marks Apply a thin layer and gently pat for absorption - it acts like a protective shield without feeling heavy Pre-apply to areas prone to mask irritation, like the sides of your nose and chin, to prevent blemishes After laser treatments, exfoliation, or peels, using this alone for 3 days will have your skin saying "I'm alive!" Multi-purpose wonder: use as lip balm, cuticle care, or elbow cream - it's your all-over emergency skin savior This is the "Cicaplast to the rescue" level skin recovery essential for our skincare-obsessed era Using it when your skin is acting up gives you that "I'm taking care of myself" feeling - j_****Dry SkinInner DrynessRecommendedMay 15, 2025
Lately, I've been feeling like my skin barrier is breaking down in the dry weather, so I purchased it. It has a texture closer to an ointment than a cream or lotion, and it doesn't instantly make a dramatic improvement, but I feel like my skin is gradually recovering. The formulation seems a bit superficial, which is disappointing... It will take some time to get it to absorb properly. Apply a small amount on the back of your hand, then dab it gently onto your face with your fingertips. This seems to help with better absorption. - so********Normal SkinMay 15, 2025
I purchased it from Olive Young. I remember buying it because the reviews were good. After using it following a dermatological procedure, I did not see much effectiveness. - gu*********Oily SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMar 4, 2025
Effective for improving skin barrier function. Compared to B5+, this product definitely feels more suitable for oily skin types in terms of texture and application. The main drawback is the relatively high price, which can be a bit burdensome. It would be great if they could release a smaller size version as well. - ce******Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedFeb 22, 2025
I've been using this for a month on my dry skin, as it's supposed to be good for pigmentation, and it's been absolutely fantastic! The only slight issue was that the product doesn't come out naturally when trying to apply it. - so********Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedFeb 15, 2025
I absolutely loved it. It suits my skin perfectly and seems to calm my blemishes. As someone with skin that's quite prone to blemishes, I found it a bit sticky. I only use this during the winter months.
