The Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner was my first foray into K-Beauty back in January. Its promises of soothing, skin-softening effects for all skin types had me intrigued. I stalked yesstyle.com for weeks, but it was constantly out of stock - a good sign, I thought. Popular products must be winners, right? Unable to snag it from yesstyle, I took a chance on Amazon. Though I risked authenticity buying from an independent seller, the deal was too tempting to pass up - 248ml of 'soothing' toner for just £13.65. Several weeks later, it arrived, presumably fresh off the slow boat from Korea. The quantity and price seemed like a great starting point for my Korean skincare journey, especially since I planned to use it in layers as part of a 10 or 12-step routine. Application can be a bit messy if you use your hands - it tends to run everywhere when you try to pat it on in layers like an essence. I never used a cotton pad, not wanting to waste a drop of this precious liquid! There was no stinging, burning, or tingling on my skin or eyes. I planned to decant it into a spray bottle for easier use. The toner itself has a clear, thin, and lightweight texture, almost like slightly thickened water. It absorbs into the skin after about 20 to 30 seconds. As I write this, I'm giving it another try to provide the most up-to-date review possible! To sum up, it's possible I'm allergic to one of the 'beneficial' ingredients, or perhaps one of the fillers. The Disodium EDTA might have increased the potential for ingredients to penetrate deeper, possibly causing a skin reaction. However, I suspect I'm more likely allergic to one or more of the preservatives or fragrances used. I also have to consider that, since I bought it from Amazon, there's a chance it might not be a genuine product. While this toner didn't work wonders for me, it doesn't mean it will cause reactions for everyone. Given its impressive list of beneficial ingredients, it might be worth a try. At this price point, you have little to lose and potentially beautiful skin to gain. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedJan 14, 2021
After a tiring day at work, dragging my exhausted body home, the first thing I do is remove my makeup and start my skincare routine. On those days when I'm utterly drained, everything feels like a chore. But I can't neglect my basic skincare! Recently, I've been simplifying my routine with Secret Key's Fresh Toner. There are five different types of Fresh Toner, so you can choose one that suits your skin's condition each day. Today, I tried the Aloe Toner. It contains aloe vera, green tea, and portulaca extract, which are excellent for hydration. I love how it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. The quantity is less than I expected. It would be great if they released a larger size. Soak a cotton pad generously and use it as an exfoliating toner, or leave it on the desired areas for about 10 minutes. It works wonders for hydration and soothing the skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedAug 14, 2020
It's a decent moisturizer that gets the job done! I used it as a skin pack because of its affordable price. It definitely has a great soothing effect when used as a skin pack in summer. I don't think it had enough appeal to make me want to repurchase it. - sm*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinMay 18, 2020
The moisturizing effect seemed to last relatively long Disappointingly, it had a strong artificial aloe scent and a slight alcohol smell, so I remember always using it with the lid open - od******Dry SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedDec 9, 2019
I've been using this product for 4 years and came to write a review hoping it wouldn't be discontinued, but to my dismay, it has been! I've tried other popular toners like Dokdo and Isntree in between because online shopping can be a hassle, but at this price point, I haven't found anything that gives me the same soothing effect as this one. While it's a watery toner and might seem basic, its calming effect is outstanding. As an exfoliating toner, it's unbeatable. I just bought two more bottles - please don't discontinue it! The only downside? You can't buy it on short notice. As someone who prefers shopping in-store, this is the only thing I find disappointing. It's excellent as a skin pack and top-notch as an exfoliating toner. - lt*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedOct 8, 2019
I've only used this toner, so I can't compare it to others, but it seems pretty decent. The quantity for the price is good too. At first, I thought everything would spill out when I flipped it over to open the cap, given the bottle shape. Thankfully, it dispenses slowly, drop by drop. It's inconvenient to carry around due to its length, and since it's not a spray, you can't use it as a mist easily. You might need to transfer it to a separate travel bottle. Also, you have to flip the bottle and gently squeeze it to get drops out, which might frustrate those who are impatient. - qu*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedJun 29, 2019
I've used up about 10 bottles of this toner that I often bought at great discounts on social media. Back when I was using it, it was hard to find skincare with such good ingredients, generous volume, and excellent value for money. As someone with super sensitive skin, I found it incredibly gentle and perfect for daily use. These days, there are many gentle toners available, and I've found my holy grail products. At some point, I stopped paying attention to this one, and now I see it's been discontinued. What a shame! - so**********Dry SkinRecommendedJun 11, 2019
Great value with a large size and excellent hydration. It's fine for regular use, but those with dry skin may need to apply multiple layers. Nothing particularly noteworthy. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedMay 7, 2019
The large volume and affordable price make it great for use as a cleansing toner without any hesitation. I mainly use it to remove any residue after washing my face with water. I also appreciate that it's almost fragrance-free. While I haven't experienced any particular blemishes, when I searched on Hwahae, I did notice there are a few potentially problematic ingredients. I keep it on my bathroom counter and use it as a toner to wipe my face immediately after cleansing with water. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinApr 30, 2019
I'm using this as a wipe-on toner, and I love that it doesn't leave any sticky residue after application! Even after using it as a toner mask, my skin still feels dry...
