Wow... it's been discontinued. I bought this in 2017 and I'm still using it! Using it sparingly, I've managed to make it last for 3 years, haha. The color payoff is excellent. I prefer eyeshadows with good pigmentation, so I really liked this aspect! It's very versatile. It's perfect for everyday use because it's so versatile! I use this product daily. It adheres well to the skin. (which also means it has good staying power) It's a win-win situation! The color matches its name perfectly. Just like its name, it really does have the color of toast! It's fascinating how the name and the shadow color are identical, and I appreciate that consistency. It contains shimmer. It's not bad when applied to the eyelids. However... I also use this product for contouring and to soften the front of my eyebrows. The color is really pretty, but... because of the shimmer... *sigh* (This is a major reason for the 4-star rating) But this might be a matter of personal preference! I've seen other reviews where people actually liked the shimmer. There's a lot of excess powder. Compared to budget brand products which are notorious for fallout, it's not as bad. But when compared to other products (excluding those budget brands), it does tend to have more fallout. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJan 23, 2019
The color payoff is great, and the shade is perfect for creating a subtle shadow on the eyelids! It's truly an ideal, versatile eyeshadow for everyday looks. I remember reading somewhere that it's good for contouring too, so I wanted to try it. But it has a bit more redness and a slight shimmer than I expected, making it less suitable for contouring, unfortunately. Instead of using a brush, try applying it gently with your fingers on the eyelids for a natural and beautiful shadowing effect! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 8, 2018
The ingredients are great, so I can use it with peace of mind. It's not only good for creating a deeper set eye look, but also works well for contouring. There's no yellow or red undertone, so if you control the amount well, it leaves a natural shadow, making both the eyes and contouring look beautiful. The disappointing thing is that although it's supposed to be a matte eyeshadow, there's a slight shimmer which is a letdown. The color is a bit intense, making it challenging for beginners or those in a rush to use for everyday makeup. Using a powder brush, lightly sweep from the eyebrows to the nose area, cheeks, jawline, and forehead edges. This can create the illusion of a defined nose, V-line jaw, and a slimmer face. Applying an eye primer before the eyeshadow and letting it dry reduces creasing, improves longevity and color payoff, meaning less touch-ups are needed. For a deeper set eye look, use a brush to gently sweep a triangle shape at the outer corner of the eye, making the eyes appear larger. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 8, 2018
This has become one of my favorite go-to products. I love how versatile it is - you can use it effortlessly for everyday looks. It's great for nose contouring too! Even applying just one shade creates a beautiful depth and dimension. While there's a slight shimmer that might not be for everyone, I still love everything else about it! Perfect for nose contouring and standalone eye makeup looks. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAug 25, 2018
The color is so natural, yet there's a noticeable difference between applied and bare skin! I loved how it subtly adds color even when just used to control oil around the eyes. It's perfect as a base. There seems to be a hint of shimmer too! It applies smoothly, and like most eyeshadows, I felt the quantity was generous. It didn't cause any blemishes and wasn't particularly irritating to the eyes. While it removes easily with lip and eye makeup remover, it still has surprisingly good staying power! It's just an excellent basic item in your makeup kit. There are no downsides to mention. The slight shimmer might be a drawback for those who don't like it, though. When I'm feeling lazy about doing my makeup, I just swipe this on. Otherwise, I use it as a base. I've occasionally tried using it for contouring, but that was a bit too noticeable and didn't work out well. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinAug 9, 2018
As a light summer cool-toned person with monolids (around shade 13 to light 21), I'm a student who usually doesn't wear eye makeup. But recently, I got interested in eyeshadows and decided to buy this! I specifically chose a brown shade because of my monolids. I think this eyeshadow is really great value for money, with so many advantages! First, the color is amazing. It's a yellow-toned brown without any redness. It's perfect for creating simple depth and looks beautiful when applied to the inner corner. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems quite durable. I accidentally dropped my makeup pouch containing this shadow along with some Etude House shadows and an Innisfree blush onto the asphalt! While the Etude and Innisfree products shattered, this one remained intact. I was really surprised! The most disappointing aspect was the shimmer! I usually prefer a natural, barely-there makeup look, so I lean towards matte eyeshadows in soft, subtle shades. But even though it was clearly labeled as matte... why is there shimmer? I thought it was supposed to be matte... I'm really disappointed about that. However, this is just personal preference, so those who like shimmer might enjoy it! The second issue is the excess powder. It's fine when applied with fingers, but with a brush... the fallout is significant. That's why I've been applying it with my fingers instead! If you're going to use it, I recommend applying it with your fingers! For those expecting a completely matte finish, you might want to look elsewhere. However, the color is truly beautiful, so if you don't mind a bit of shimmer, it might be worth trying! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 16, 2018
1. Versatile for creating dimensional eye looks. 2. Minimal excess powder fallout. 3. Natural-looking shade for filling in eyebrows. 1. Has a slight shimmer that's not too noticeable, but the yellowish undertone makes it a bit too warm for contouring. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 6, 2018
I love that it can double as a contour. It looked especially beautiful when applied in autumn. I wish it had more shimmer. The yellowish undertone might not suit those with fair skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinApr 2, 2018
It's fantastic as a contour eyeshadow!! Highly recommended for beginners There are no downsides!! The shimmer isn't overwhelming and the color is beautiful - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinMar 24, 2018
First off, it's fantastic for daily use! I love how natural it looks when adding subtle shading. As a student, I'm always conscious of price, and this seems to offer great value for money. Plus, there's minimal excess powder, which makes it really convenient to use. There's a tiny bit of fine shimmer, which is a bit odd for a matte shadow. It's barely noticeable with a light application, but becomes more visible if you build up the color. If you're not a fan of any shimmer, I'd strongly recommend testing it thoroughly at the store before purchasing. Other than that, I can't think of any downsides. Make sure to test for shimmer at the store before buying. If you're looking for a completely matte shadow for contouring, this might not be the perfect fit for you.
