Atona products contain wood vinegar, which gives off an unpleasant smell, like burnt, cigarette, or medicinal odor.
First-time users may be quite surprised by the smell.
Luckily, I've gotten used to it because of my son, so it's fine for me. 
The smell is the downside.

My son used Atona products briefly before his first birthday.
Currently, I'm using the lotion regularly, and the cream only in the winter.
