It tends to smudge the nail polish underneath, so it's not suitable as an initial top coat. After some use, it becomes a bit thick and develops a lot of bubbles. It works well when applied as a second layer of top coat for extra shine and longevity. The quick-drying formula is perfect when you're short on time.
