<<My honest review of the Estée Lauder foundation I splurged on>> As a student, a 72,000 won foundation is truly expensive, but everyone kept raving about Estée Lauder, so I decided to take the plunge. 💄Staying power: If there's one thing you can't overlook in a foundation, it's longevity. And wow, Estée Lauder delivers! Even when applied sparingly with a damp Daiso sponge, it adheres perfectly to the skin. I honestly believe no other foundation can match Estée Lauder's staying power. I'm in love! 💄Coverage: My skin doesn't have any active acne or pustules, but I do have redness around my nose, blemishes, and quite a few acne scars. With other foundations that claimed good coverage, those areas would always look patchy, and I'd have to use concealer. But with Estée Lauder, just a few thin layers completely hide my blemishes. The coverage is truly outstanding! 💄Blemishes: I have extremely sensitive skin, and using Etude House or other drugstore foundations would usually cause my skin to break out. Since switching to Estée Lauder, as long as I'm thorough with cleansing, I only get a few tiny bumps that disappear after a few days. 💄Oxidation: Let me be brief. It doesn't happen. Period.
Despite all these amazing benefits, I'm giving it 4 stars because of a few critical drawbacks: 😿 Color: I usually wear shade 23, which perfectly matches my slightly darker skin tone. However, the Sand shade was too yellow and dark for me. I tried mixing it with various brightening moisturizers, but it didn't work. I ended up having to mix it with another foundation. I really can't recommend this to anyone who dislikes yellow undertones. 😿 Caking: On dry days, especially in winter, it cakes terribly around the nose. Even when it's not caking, it often wears off. You don't need to focus too much on skincare beforehand - the foundation itself is moisturizing and sets to a powdery finish on its own. If you layer too much skincare, it can actually make the makeup feel watery.
For your base, lightly apply a gentle emulsion like Physiogel. Then, dampen a sponge, squeeze out the excess water, and apply the Estée Lauder foundation. Start by dotting it on your skin, then blend it out with a puff. This method gives a beautiful skin-like finish. Everyone should try Estée Lauder!
