For those with oily skin, this is truly a holy grail product! When I worked as a flight attendant, passengers would always ask what foundation I used, inadvertently turning me into an Estée Lauder promoter as I enthusiastically shared about this product.
- The staying power is unbeatable! Even during long-haul flights in dry cabin air, the makeup doesn't break down easily, and when it eventually does, it fades gracefully. Once, after an early morning flight, I crashed on the airport bus and woke up to meet a friend. She asked if I had reapplied my makeup because my skin was glowing (probably due to some shine, but still!). That says it all!
- I find the ingredients to be relatively gentle and good! I have super sensitive skin that's usually flawless but reacts badly to even slightly incompatible ingredients. With Double Wear, I've lost count of how many bottles I've emptied.
- Quantity? While 30ml might seem small, it lasts nearly a year with daily use before work, including weekends! I love how long it lasts.
- The lack of a pump when purchased duty-free might be a downside. However, this is easily solved by buying a 30ml pump from Olive Young and replacing the cap.
- Many people complain about the shade range, but as I'm not particularly fair-skinned, even Cool Vanilla gives me a bright and beautiful complexion!
My application method varies depending on the situation!
- My usual routine:
After skincare, I thoroughly dampen a Real Techniques sponge and apply Double Wear in thin, overlapping layers, patting it on. For the eye area and around the mouth, I use the residual product on the sponge to avoid heavy application in these areas.
However, I've noticed differences in the texture of Real Techniques sponges purchased from duty-free shops, iHerb, and Olive Young, so I need to compare them properly next time. I don't recommend the 4-piece set from iHerb.
- For oily summer days or when I used to fly:
After skincare, I follow a similar application method, but the key difference is using a dry Skinfood wedge puff instead of a damp sponge. This can be extremely drying, so I don't recommend it for those with dry skin! I used this method for long flights to prevent makeup breakdown, but since changing jobs, I rarely do this now. However, for days when I need long-lasting makeup, I use this method and then lightly layer MAC Strobe Cream + Double Wear on my forehead, nose, and cheeks for a beautiful, glowing finish!
