It has a watery consistency like a toner. I love how it applies smoothly, just like an emulsion. I was using it well, but when I searched on Hwahae, I found out it contains two harmful ingredients including fragrance... what a shame. - Hwahae UserDry SkinJan 4, 2017
I bought it expecting it to be gentle since it's labeled as baby care I'm not sure if it's actually gentle... For example, sometimes my eyes get irritated along with my skin... While many sunblocks tend to get oily over time, this one was the king of greasiness... The excessive richness made me gradually stop using it. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it - kk*****Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinJul 6, 2016
I used to use the Kiss Me Baby Sun Killer, but after it was discontinued, I stopped applying sunscreen. I've finally found the perfect product that's lightweight, spreads thinly, isn't greasy, and has great ingredients! There's nothing particularly bad about it, except that it's difficult to buy in Korea! Make sure to pick some up if you go to Japan! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 12, 2016
First off, I assume you're aware that not all Anessa sunscreen products use nano-sized particles. While I know this review might only reach certain readers, I want to share my thoughts. Research hasn't found any evidence of nano-sized zinc and titanium being absorbed into the body. They've been confirmed to remain on the skin's surface. The concerns floating around are just 'potential worries', so I'm cool with using nano sunscreens. There's barely any white cast (though a tiny bit is present), and I've used it without any blemishes! However, I didn't repurchase because of some drawbacks, which I'll get into next... It's drying. Even nano-technology can't solve the dryness of mineral sunscreens, haha. It's also expensive. I liked the lack of white cast and considered repurchasing, but in Korea, it's nearly three times the price (I bought it at a Japanese duty-free shop). Due to the high cost and concerns about nuclear power (..), I'm now exploring other mineral sunscreens. I'm currently waiting for the delivery of some new mineral sunscreen babies, lol. My mineral sunscreen reviews are to be continued! The real danger lies in sun sprays. It's truly hazardous if the sunscreen ingredients are inhaled. You know how in movies they snort drugs? Apparently, absorption through the respiratory system is much easier than ingestion! Many organizations advise against using sprays due to the high risk of inhalation. The same goes for powder products (high chance of powder entering the nose when patting on the face). If you must use them, the advice is to hold your breath while applying... - yo*****Oily SkinJan 1, 2016
It absorbs well and has a nice consistency. I've heard it's best to use sunscreen products within 6 months, so I like that the volume is small. For my oily skin, it's too greasy, and for my dry-skinned sister, it lacks hydration. I bought it thinking it was a mineral sunscreen due to the low SPF and 'baby' label, but it turned out to be chemical. If you're shopping in Japan, I'd recommend getting the essence sunscreen instead. I don't think I'll even use this on my body... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinOct 29, 2015
The price is quite reasonable. I used to use Shiseido Anessa Mild Face Sunscreen (white case), but this product is almost half the price with not much difference in ingredients. The absorption is similar to Mild Face, with a water-like texture that applies smoothly. While Mild Face had a slight skin-colored pigment, this one is just white without any pigment. There's a difference in SPF - Mild Face is SPF 46 while this is SPF 34. However, when considering the 'amount of UV rays blocked' rather than 'reaching the skin', the difference isn't significant. SPF15 blocks 93.3%, SPF30 blocks 96.7%, and SPF50 blocks 98%. I don't particularly prefer higher SPF numbers. I've heard dermatologists say that doubling synthetic ingredients only increases UV protection by 1%. The scientific community considers SPF30 and above to have minimal differences, recommending reapplication every 2-3 hours instead. I actually like that this product has an appropriate SPF of 34. Shiseido Anessa is known for being difficult to remove, hence their dedicated cleanser. I used Clé de Peau Beauté Synactif Soap from the Shiseido line, which removed it thoroughly without needing a second cleanse. I don't think a special cleanser is necessary - using plenty of cleansing oil works well too. The quantity is small. I was surprised by the almost half price compared to Mild Face, but the size difference is significant. I've added a size comparison photo below. The ingredients list physical sunscreens (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide), but the excellent absorption and minimal white cast made me suspect nanoparticles. I looked it up, and indeed it does contain them. The use of nanoparticles in physical sunscreens is still controversial in the scientific community, which makes me a bit uneasy. Should I go back to using Badger, with its great ingredients but terrible application and white cast? I do use Badger when I'm not wearing full makeup and just running errands in the neighborhood... Since it doesn't come off easily, use plenty of cleansing oil when removing. I submitted a product registration request with the official website's ingredient list (in Japanese), but was told they only accept Korean or English. So I translated it to English and resubmitted. I've attached photos of both the original and translated versions. If anyone who understands Japanese notices any errors, please request a correction. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinOct 29, 2015
The application is nice. It's clear like water, making it easy to apply, though it doesn't absorb quickly. You really need to scrub this off with soap. When I tried to gently wash it off with soap, it left patchy white residue. You have to use a dedicated cleanser and then scrub vigorously with soap to remove it completely.
