It's your Hwahae Sweet-chan here! (Just had some super spicy ramen sauce without cheese or milk!) Today, I'll be *ahem* reviewing a product I've been *cough* using for a long time *wheeze* *munching on tangerines* Hi everyone, it's Sweet-chan here! *sniff* Today, while organizing my vanity, I found the Etude Contour Stick in shades 1 and 2 that I've been using for ages but never reviewed. I'll be sharing my thoughts on it! It's quite a famous product with mixed opinions! However, I've been using it quite satisfactorily! It's just that recently, the ratings have been a bit stingy... -- Shade 1, unlike shade 2, has shimmery pearls! And it's more on the thick side rather than runny! The contour is quite dark and the highlighter is quite bright. Well, that's typical for most contour sticks. Still, it can give a pretty natural effect! The pearls have an emphasizing effect, but it doesn't accentuate skin texture!
ConsThe shimmery pearls can make it look like eyeshadow has fallen on your cheeks... And the contour is quite intense, so I'm not too fond of it...
TipI recommend applying the highlighter with your fingers or a toothbrush. For the contour, try patting it in with a sponge! (Oh, by the way, I've made the two makeup videos on my YouTube account private... I got shy...)

Its smooth application and good color payoff allowed me to easily create facial shadows with just a few swipes. The convenience of having both a contour and highlighter in one product made it very portable. Especially noteworthy was how well it blended. I could roughly apply it and then pat it with my fingers to create well-defined lines, eliminating the need for a separate brush. The packaging is quite durable. While the text on the main container may wear off after prolonged use in a makeup pouch, I never experienced issues with the lid breaking. This is a significant plus, especially considering my past experience with another brand's dual stick where both lids broke and became loose, forcing me to use tape to keep it together.
ConsAs this was my introductory product when I knew nothing about contouring, its drawbacks became apparent once I tried other shading products. The contour shade is excessively dark. Applying this on skin that typically uses shades 17-19 from roadshop brands resulted in such intense shadowing that it looked like I was showing off my contouring skills to the whole neighborhood. I naively thought it looked good and went around like that... Honestly, the highlighter's quality is even less impressive. Compared to regular powder or cream highlighters, its particle density is extremely fine, the color payoff is intense, and it applies quite matte. It's a non-pearl product with a stark white tone, lacking any ivory or pink undertones. Rather than giving a subtle glow or dimensional brightness, it feels more like applying a whitening cream, almost creating a white cast. As it's challenging for contouring beginners to use, I eventually stopped using it altogether. While the contour side applies smoothly and wears down quickly, the highlighter is difficult to use. I ended up discarding the product when the contour side was completely used up, with the highlighter side barely touched. Since it's a non-refillable dual stick, I wish they had increased the amount of the contour product. Being a cream type, it disappears incredibly quickly unless set with powder or powder contour.
TipCompared to the slim sticks available these days, this one is quite thick and the color is quite strong, making it less suitable for nose contouring. It's better to apply it with a cream shadow brush or use a separate thin stick product. Applying a powder contour lightly over the cream product after blending seems to improve its longevity. Due to its dark color and strong pigmentation, be cautious with the amount you apply.

ConsHonestly, the color is off. The shading color is too red and dark. It's probably best not to buy it

Plus, having the highlighter included makes it great for an all-in-one application.
ConsThe color is quite intense, so if you're not careful with the amount, you might end up looking too brown. Just be mindful of how much you apply and you'll be fine.

The application is smooth, and the product feels moisturizing. Just apply and gently blend with a sponge, and you're done! It's an excellent choice for beginners who find contouring and highlighting challenging.
ConsWhen contouring the nose bridge, shade 1 seems to have a rather intense brown color, making the contouring quite noticeable in that area. For a more subtle effect on the nose, a powder contour product might work better and look more natural.

I used to go through entire compacts of powder contour. Powder types are fine, but when I'm out for long periods, touching up my makeup would erase all the contouring. I ended up carrying a contour powder, contour brush, highlighter, and highlighter brush in my makeup bag - it was such a waste of space! That's why I got this. In that aspect, it's a fantastic product. Unlike larger sticks, it's perfect for contouring the nose. While I haven't repurchased yet, I definitely plan to!
ConsThe contour shade is a bit too dark for my liking. It can be a bit much for the jawline.
TipFor a beautiful finish, dot it lightly along the sides of your nose, under the brows, and in the hollows of your cheeks, then gently blend with your fingertips.

The stick format makes it convenient to use. I love that it combines both highlighter and shading in one product.
ConsThe shading color is too dark for my complexion, making it quite noticeable when I apply it to my nose or chin. Also, it doesn't adhere well to the skin and seems to move around a bit.
