The major flaw is that it's incredibly difficult to control the amount dispensed. I've resorted to using a cotton swab to apply just a tiny bit. Applying directly to the lips not only makes it hard to control the amount, but it also makes the opening messy - there's no upside to that method. You'll need cotton swabs, and I recommend waiting a bit after applying this primer before putting on lip products. Otherwise, the primer might pill and that's a hassle to deal with.

I loved how moisturizing it felt when applying. It even has sun protection! What I appreciate most is that when I apply lip products after this, there's not a single flake of dead skin cells visible - it creates a beautiful finish. With so many great lip products available these days, I wonder if this is really necessary. I've never noticed it improving longevity, and if you apply a bit too much, it seems to mix with the lipstick. If you're prone to laziness, I wouldn't recommend it.

If you have a desired lip color but your natural lip tone is too intensely red or purple, this works well for neutralizing the base. It's lighter and easier to apply than foundation, giving you a sense of prepping your lips before applying lipstick.

The key is controlling the amount. Squeeze a bit onto the back of your hand and apply it gradually. If you exfoliate your lips well, apply this primer, and then put on a matte lipstick, the staying power is fantastic!

While it's good for lipstick longevity, it can't help with the way matte lipsticks emphasize dead skin cells.
