Winter deep tone folks, you must buy this!! (I'm a powerful cool tone that rejects even the slightest hint of warmth, and low brightness and low saturation colors suit me well) Even though it's a deep color, there's honestly no clumping, harsh edges, or excess powder. It applies incredibly smoothly and evenly, with no fallout and minimal harsh lines. No matter what brush or even your fingers you use to apply it, there's zero fallout and it goes on incredibly evenly and smoothly. Even if you apply it carelessly, it still goes on uniformly without harsh edges or any powder fallout. Usually with such deep shades, you can't avoid a bit of fallout or slight clumping if you're not careful, but this one is just so smooth and even with no excess at all..! With darker colors, even a tiny bit of fallout under the eyes is noticeable and bothersome, but this doesn't have that issue at all, making it so easy to use. It blends beautifully too. Gently blending it creates a soft gradient without becoming too intense. The color is a work of art. It's like a purple+brown mix, reminiscent of a prune+tree branch color? Or like the stem of a grape? It's not an overpowering purple, making it a natural contouring shade for cool winter tones like me!! It's a really calm and deep color, but not so dark that it looks like raccoon eyes. As a winter deep tone, I like using deep, low brightness and low saturation colors like this near my lash line as a point color over a base. But using colors that are too close to black can look like outdated smokey eye makeup. Even just a few years ago when smokey eyes were still trendy, it was fine, but nowadays it can look a bit old-fashioned. Using pitch black can look dated, and these kinds of colors, even in small amounts, don't give a light and fresh makeup look. While they suit me, there were limitations to using them alone. But this one doesn't have that issue at all despite being so deep and low in brightness and saturation, which is why I absolutely love it. Instead of being close to black, it's a purple+tree branch color with low saturation and brightness, so it's calm and not flashy. It's comfortable to wear without being too dark, avoiding that outdated smokey eye look or becoming too intense and overwhelming with just a little product. It's truly beautiful for daily wear..! It makes your eyes look mysterious and really enlarges them. Even without eyeliner, this alone makes my eyes look 1.5 times bigger! It definitely adds depth and makes eyes look bigger with its low brightness and saturation, but it's not just dark and overwhelming like an outdated smokey eye. Instead, it's softly mysterious while looking natural and beautiful. (Of course, as someone with very low brightness+saturation winter deep tone, I found it great to use as a point shadow, blending it up to my double eyelid line. For those who aren't as low brightness as me, it might be better not to cover too large an area. Instead, focus on applying it thinly near the lash line for a subtle, mysterious look! Since it's not just a pitch black color, you can blend it slightly above your eyeliner for a subtle yet effective contour without going overboard) It looks really beautiful when you use a MAC bullet brush or a Picasso Collezioni 19 brush to fill in along your lash line up to your crease, then gently blend for a gradient effect. It makes your eyes look so much bigger too! First, apply it along your lash line, slightly below your crease. Then, use a brush with less product on it to blend the edges horizontally back and forth. This makes it easy to apply evenly in just the area you want. When blending, it often spreads more than initially intended, making the area wider than planned. You can also fill in the inner corner narrowly with this to make your eyes look even bigger! The color applies so evenly and without fallout that it works well with any brush, fingers, or whatever you use to apply it. With such deep colors, if you swatch them on the back of your hand with your finger, you can usually see unevenness as it fades towards the end, but even that comes out evenly with this shadow~ MAC single shadows are well-known bestsellers, so I'm satisfied with the value for money, packaging, and accessibility. The clean black case has been loved for 10 years, not going out of style and remaining sleek and pretty. It's small and sturdy, which is great. The transparent window in the lid lets you see the inside, making it easy to distinguish colors. At around 20,000 won each, I'm satisfied with the value considering the variety of colors and quality! They used to be just over 20,000 won, but the price has gone up recently. Accessibility is great too. You can find offline stores in practically every department store, and online you can buy from the MAC official site, department store sites like Lotte ON, etc! Both online and offline accessibility is excellent.
ConsI tried buying from the MAC official website for the first time, but purchasing from their official site is really disappointing. I've never felt that any official website was particularly bad or inconvenient before, but this is a first;; I usually order from official websites of major brands because they're clean and nice, but with MAC, I've always bought in-store, so this was my first time ordering online. It was quite disappointing, so I won't be using their official site anymore~ I regret signing up. As always, I'll either buy in-store or if I want to order online, I can use sites like Lotte ON, which is directly operated by the department store. It's reassuring because the products are sent from MAC counters in department stores! They often have 5-10% discounts too! There's really no need to order from the official website.. The customer service was unfriendly, shipping was extremely slow, and I couldn't even track my order. For over a week, I had no idea if it was lost or what was happening;; I finally received it after almost 10 days. International shipping would've been faster! Even if there are circumstances causing delays, they should at least notify customers. Not knowing the reason and having no updates at all is frustrating;; On the positive side, the packaging was really secure, thorough, and carefully done when they finally sent it.
TipThis eyeshadow works great with brushes like the MAC bullet brush or Picasso Collezioni 19. First, use the Picasso 207A base brush to apply MAC Soft Brown or another base color all over the lid. Then, use the Picasso 19 brush or MAC bullet brush to add depth with this point color along your crease line, and blend the edges for a gradient effect. Also, fill in the inner corner narrowly with this. This technique makes your eyes look bigger even without eyeliner, and it has great staying power. It also pairs well with MAC Dazzleshadow in Last Dance. You can use it on the lower lash line, or after applying this product all over the lid, dab a bit of Last Dance with your finger in the center of the lid. It looks really beautiful and they complement each other perfectly. While Sketch's matte, shimmer-free look is mysterious and pretty on its own, sometimes the matte finish can feel a bit heavy or plain. In those cases, adding a touch of Last Dance with your finger at the end creates a perfect shimmer that complements the color. This allows you to create two different looks. It makes the overall look much more glamorous and refreshing.
