  Pros

  It gently shapes curls without making them stiff, and provides a nice moisture boost. I've gone through more than 5 bottles already. It's great for maintaining perms too!

  Cons

  The cream keeps leaking through the cap when using it... It's inconvenient having to store it upside down. I wish they would improve the packaging design.

  Apply generously to damp hair and then blow dry.

  As a hairstylist, I can say this product has a moisturizing texture that's perfect for regular perms, strong waves, and S-curls. It's great for taming frizz after perming damaged hair. For an Aveda product, the generous volume is a plus.

  Cons

  Due to its thin consistency, this product isn't suitable for thick waves, natural waves, or C-curl perms that aim for a more effortless look.

  The scent is not artificial, but rather refreshing with a herbal note. Not sure if you'll use it, but it's unisex so men could use it too. I bought it on recommendation from my hair salon and used it when my perm started to loosen. I've been using it daily lately, and it definitely revives the perm. I'm super lazy and never style my hair while drying, so my perm was loosening quickly. But now it's in this slightly relaxed perm state? which I love. It's just right - that perfect perm look after the initial tightness has softened into something more natural. I'm really satisfied. It's not sticky, so you can use it without worry. It's a bit pricey, but I apply it generously to my damp hair before drying. It spreads naturally without any stickiness or clumping.

  Cons

  First off, it's true that the price is a bit steep for a hair essence. It's a bit burdensome to keep buying and using it consistently. Also, it's designed to stand with the opening at the bottom, but I'm not sure if it's just mine, but sometimes a little leaks out of the opening. So I store it lying down, but my mother keeps standing it up. While it's an essence for curls, I wish it had more moisturizing properties. For my severely damaged hair, this alone isn't enough, so I use a hair oil after drying.

  Tip

  For those who are diligent! If you use this and blow dry your hair well, your perm should last longer. Or when your perm is almost completely loosened, use this and dry your hair properly to revive natural waves!

  This has been my go-to product for ages. I've tried many other brands, but I always come back to this one. It's not sticky at all, and I love the signature Aveda scent when applying. After towel-drying my hair, I use it to shape my curls, and as it dries, it brings my natural waves to life.

  Cons

  The only downside I can think of is that it's not exactly budget-friendly.

  For best results, apply it when your hair is slightly damp after towel-drying, shaping your hair as you go. This will help set your curls beautifully. If your hair feels a bit dry, you can mix in some oil or essence for added hydration.

  Lives up to its promise of enhancing curls. When using this, it seems to create slightly bouncier and less frizzy curls. A small amount works well, and even when your perm has almost grown out, applying this and scrunching with your hands while blow-drying can help maintain the curl surprisingly well.

  Cons

  The scent is not great. It's not an emulsion or essence type, so you must use a small amount on wet hair. If applied to hair that's too dry, it won't absorb and may leave visible white residue, which can be frustrating.
