I was surprised to see that the Hwahae reviews weren't as good as I expected! While everyone's skin type is different, the feedback was worse than I anticipated. I personally was very satisfied with it. For me, this was honestly the best cushion I've ever used! It excelled in all the key aspects I look for when choosing a cushion. It's truly a holy grail product for me! Unfortunately, it was discontinued at Sonyanara, and I couldn't repurchase it while trying out other cushions. But I recently found out it's still available on the YADAH website, so I'm thinking about buying it again! I first bought this product when Sonyanara did a collaboration with them, around when I was 17 or 18, and started using it in the fall. It was incredibly moisturizing, had good coverage for a hydrating product, applied beautifully, and had great staying power! It was just so, so good. It absolutely must not be discontinued! YADAH, please don't ever discontinue this product! It's forbidden no matter what! Note: The following is promotional content. The product description ends here. If you're considering buying or are about to purchase, or if you're curious about the product, feel free to read on. I'll be explaining the product's benefits in detail, but the above information should suffice for a general overview. For those curious about this product, let me break it down: First, the coverage. This is the main factor I consider when buying base products, and it's great! Before buying, I was skeptical of the positive reviews from Sonyanara models, thinking they might be biased. But while it's not perfect, it covers most blemishes, redness, and minor imperfections well! It won't cover dark, pigmented spots though. Apart from Estée Lauder, I haven't seen many products that can cover those (and even then, I had to use a shade two tones darker). The coverage is natural - not in the sense that it doesn't cover well, but that it covers without looking thick or unnatural! The coverage is above average. It applies thinly and feels moisturizing. Plus, being a cushion, you can quickly pat it on! The application method doesn't greatly affect the finish or longevity, unlike some cushions. Applying slowly might improve longevity slightly, but even quick application results in good staying power without becoming thick. As for longevity and resistance to darkening, I was surprised to see negative reviews about this. I didn't experience any issues. There was minimal darkening, which is unavoidable with any base product. Even after 9-10 hours without touch-ups, there was only slight darkening - barely noticeable! The staying power is excellent. Despite being moisturizing, it doesn't crease or separate, even on my dry skin in fall and winter. With careful application, it can last over 10 hours without breaking up or losing coverage, with only slight creasing around the nose. Usually, it lasts 7-8 hours easily. In very dry, cold winter conditions, it might start to feel tight after 6 hours and show slight separation after 7-8 hours, but only visible up close. A touch-up at this point is sufficient. For a cushion, the longevity is top-notch! Overall, I'd rank it just after Estée Lauder and Lancôme in terms of staying power. It's almost on par with these high-end brands, which is incredible for a cushion! The cushion format makes it even better - so convenient to carry and apply on the go. I really hope this product becomes more widely known! Regarding moisture, I usually focus on coverage and longevity in cushions, and products that excel in these areas often aren't very hydrating. But this one is different. While most cushions make my face feel dry and tight after 3 hours, this one doesn't. It stays perfect for at least 6 hours, only starting to feel a bit dry internally after 7 hours, and that's because I have extremely dry skin in winter. For those with less dry skin, it should feel fine without any internal dryness! The product itself feels quite moisturizing when first applied, then settles into a semi-matte finish after about 2 hours, maintaining this non-drying state for about 7 hours. However, in very dry indoor environments or with strong heating in fall/winter, it might only last about 5 hours before feeling dry. Lastly, what I loved most about this cushion is that it didn't cause any breakouts or skin issues. While base products that cover the skin can sometimes lead to small bumps or blemishes, I didn't experience any of that with this product. I was actually surprised when I looked at the ingredients list because it was so gentle on my skin. It might be the best product for not causing breakouts! Of course, make sure to use it within the expiration date - any issues after that can't be blamed on the product! Keep in mind that some people have had different experiences, so consider this before purchasing. I highly, highly recommend this product! Overall, this product is as satisfying as it could possibly be, but there is one small drawback. The only disappointing aspect is, unsurprisingly, the color range. When there was only one shade available, I bought the #21. I'm not sure if it's become brighter now, but it was one shade darker than my skin tone and had a grayish undertone. Looking at other people's comments, it seems that this shade is naturally darker than the typical #21 found in road shop brands. However, the good thing is that even though it's darker than my skin, it somehow doesn't make my complexion look dull! It's quite a remarkable product in that sense. The #21 shade isn't too light, but rather a naturally balanced color. It might work well with slightly brightening sunscreens or light makeup bases to counteract any slight grayness. That's how I usually used it, except when I was in a rush. Since the #21 is quite natural, those with lighter skin tones (around #17 to light #21) can use tone-correcting sunscreen or a lighter base as I mentioned. For those who usually use #21 to #22, it should provide a natural skin coverage. Even those who typically use #23 might find it gives a brighter look! I noticed on their website that they've added a #23 shade, which wasn't available when I bought it. I imagine the #23 would work naturally for those who usually use that shade. Personally, I really hope they'll add a #17 shade now that they have #23. If they do, this would become my absolute top holy grail product, regardless of whether it's a foundation or cushion. I'd stick to it without trying anything else! For a detailed look at the application and coverage, you can search for the product name or "Sonyanara cushion" on YouTube. No, don't buy this. Absolutely do not purchase it. You'll regret it big time! In all my life, I've never seen a cushion foundation this utterly disappointing! Where do I even begin? - The shade 21 is supposed to be light, but it's way too dark! Even shade 23 might be more suitable for a brighter complexion. It's so off that it looks like I'm not wearing anything at all. - The worst flaw? It oxidizes like crazy! They should rename this the 'Darkening Cushion', seriously! Within 2 hours, my face turned so dark I was shocked when I looked in the mirror. - Coverage? Well, that's probably its only semi-decent quality. I'd say it's low to medium at best. - If you use this in summer, prepare for an oil slick on your face! Here's a pro tip: not buying it is the best decision you can make!
