Matte finish? Yes, but it has great color payoff. I apply some petroleum jelly for moisture before using it.

Even with full application, it's not as overwhelming as I thought! I was looking for a chocolate-colored lipstick, so I'm quite satisfied. It's absolutely perfect for fall!

This lipstick comes in a beautiful deep red shade. The formula is matte and absorbs wonderfully on the lips!

I bought this thinking it would be similar to the limited edition VIP Red from before, but it turns out it's not the same at all!

The pink undertone is a bit of a drawback. I wish it was a deep brown-red instead.

This product is perfect for autumn deep warm tones to use in winter. It has a matte finish. While there's a slight pink undertone, it's still quite usable. They've done a good job with this color. The compact size of the container is adorably cute.

The lipstick is too small. When placed next to MAC, Shu Uemura, or YSL lipsticks, it looks like a toy.

The scent is really off-putting, which makes me hesitant to use it. The strange fragrance lingers in my mouth, discouraging me from wearing it.

The shade matched my light 21 tone skin with yellow undertones perfectly, as I use Make Up For Ever Y215. I was looking for a toned-down red lipstick without pink or orange hues, and this was exactly what I had in mind. It's an honest red with a touch of black, creating a deep look without being too dark or severe.

Comparing it to Shanghai Express, overseas reviews suggest Fire Down Below is slightly darker and warmer, though the difference is minimal.

Among my lipsticks, it's very similar to Revlon's Dahlia. I used to wear Dahlia alone every winter as it suited me so well, but its longevity was poor. That's why I bought Fire Down Below. Comparing them, the color is almost identical, both leaning more warm than cool. They share a toned-down red base without pink or orange mixed in. However, Fire Down Below is a bit darker while Dahlia appears slightly redder.

[Texture]
It's semi-matte, but not extremely so. It feels more like a non-glossy finish rather than a typical matte lipstick. The matte level is similar to MAC's matte lipsticks, but it feels less drying over time compared to MAC.

Honestly, it doesn't glide on super smoothly, but I really appreciated that it doesn't emphasize dead skin cells or settle into fine lines.

[Pigmentation]
This has the best pigmentation among all the lipsticks I've used. Rather than applying it directly from the bullet, I prefer to build it up by patting it on. With this lipstick, you only need to pat a few times to achieve intense color payoff. This was my first time trying a NARS lipstick, and I loved it so much that I now want to collect only NARS lipsticks.
