Due to childhood atopic dermatitis, my body skin is generally very dry. As I entered my late 20s, I also developed back and chest acne. This body cream is slightly richer than the Moonlight Path Body Emulsion, which would have been my holy grail if not for its ingredients. It provides powerful hydration, but lacks deep moisturization. As it contains more barrier-forming ingredients than the emulsion, it locks in moisture effectively. However, for extremely dry skin like mine, using this cream alone can lead to a situation where moisture evaporation is blocked on the surface, but there's not enough hydration underneath. So instead of using this alone, I applied an all-purpose toner on dry areas, let it absorb, and then followed with this cream.
ConsThe lack of deep moisturization mentioned above is a drawback. For very dry skin, an emulsion might be better than this cream. The ingredients aren't much of an improvement over the emulsion. It's mainly composed of low-cost silicone oil and petrolatum. At this point, you might as well use Vaseline with a bit of fragrance added. There's a high chance of allergic reactions due to the abundance of potentially irritating ingredients. The formula also contains PEGs and parabens, which some prefer to avoid in skincare.
TipThose with dry skin will need a separate product to address deep dehydration. In my case, I used an all-purpose toner. For oily skin types, the high content of barrier-forming ingredients might actually trigger blemishes. On the bright side, its pleasant scent and barrier-forming properties make it great as a hand cream. If you're particularly concerned about the ingredients, consider using it up quickly as a hand cream instead.
