I believe it was my introduction to low pH cleansing foams (I've been using it since it first launched), and despite the flood of new low pH cleansers on the market, I keep coming back to this one. I remember being amazed at how comfortable my skin felt after washing when I first used it. While it doesn't seem to dramatically improve my blemish-prone skin, its gentle nature makes it perfect for my morning cleanse and evening routine on makeup-free days. True to its low pH formula, it feels non-irritating, and I love that my face doesn't feel tight after cleansing.
ConsThe lack of rich lather is a bit disappointing... Even when using a foam maker, the bubbles, though plentiful, lack strength and collapse quickly. When applying the foam to my face, it doesn't feel cushiony, so it's almost like I'm rubbing my hands directly on my skin. However, I suspect this is common for most low pH cleansers. Personally, while my skin feels comfortable, I find it lacks other standout benefits (like blemish control or oil regulation).
TipFor those with super sensitive skin or combination dehydrated skin, this cleanser could be a great option for maintaining your skin's oil and moisture balance without causing irritation. Its gentle cleansing effectiveness makes it suitable for a daily skincare routine, especially if you're looking to even out your complexion over time. Remember, sometimes a product that simply doesn't aggravate your skin is doing more for your skin health than you might realize!

ConsDue to its mild pH, the cleansing effectiveness is lower compared to other foams. If you're wearing makeup, double cleansing is a must.

The foam was just right, and my skin felt hydrated after washing, with hardly any dryness. There's a subtle, unique scent that initially bothered me, but strangely enough, it grew on me with continued use. A little goes a long way - you only need a small amount for an effective cleanse. The generous volume makes it great value for money. On a separate note, I appreciate the company's mindset in incorporating Dokdo Day into their product marketing.
ConsWhile it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, the slightly slippery residue it leaves behind doesn't give me that squeaky clean feeling.
TipThis would likely work well for those with dry skin or as a morning cleanser.

Its slightly acidic formula leaves my skin feeling moisturized rather than tight after cleansing. The rich, soft lather cleanses effectively without causing any irritation. I was initially concerned about potential blemishes, but to my surprise, my skin texture actually improved. It's also quite effective at removing sunscreen and light makeup thoroughly. After using it twice daily for about three weeks, my skin feels noticeably more balanced and calm.
ConsThe foam is so gentle that those who prefer a "squeaky clean" feeling might find it a bit too mild. Also, the product volume isn't particularly generous, so you might go through it rather quickly. While it's great for sensitive skin, it may not be powerful enough to remove heavy makeup completely. For that, I'd recommend using it alongside a cleansing oil or water.
TipFor an even richer lather, try using a foam net or bubble maker instead of working up the foam in your hands! I suggest using it alone in the morning, and as a second cleanse after an oil cleanser in the evening. This approach is less irritating and helps prevent blemishes. It's especially soothing when your skin is feeling particularly sensitive.

It effectively removes impurities and excess sebum without causing irritation. The cleanser leaves your skin feeling moisturized and comfortable, not tight or dry. Its rich, creamy lather is soft on the skin while still providing excellent cleansing effectiveness. Free from fragrances and dyes, this cleanser is ideal for those with super sensitive skin.
ConsIf you have dry skin, you might find it slightly drying. You may experience a bit of tightness after use. It might not be strong enough to remove heavy makeup on its own - you'll probably need a separate makeup remover for that. It's better suited as a second-step cleanser rather than for deep cleansing.

This means they're gentle and won't damage the skin barrier. That's why most low pH products tend to be mild. Using a low pH foam cleanser offers several benefits: First, it's great for dry skin. Second, it's beneficial for those with atopic dermatitis. Third, it's ideal for sensitive and itchy skin. In my case, when I was taking isotretinoin and my skin became super sensitive, the Dokdo Cleanser really helped improve my rashes, itching, and dryness! (I also made other lifestyle changes like taking probiotics) To sum up: If you have itchy skin, atopic dermatitis, or severely dehydrated skin, I highly recommend trying a low pH foam cleanser. I've tried many low pH cleansing foams, but the Dokdo Cleanser was the gentlest and most hydrating. It's my top recommendation!
ConsFirst, it may not cleanse as thoroughly. Second, it's not ideal for oily skin types.
TipHere are some ways to balance your cleansing routine: Use a low pH cleanser for both morning and evening cleansing for two consecutive days. Alternate between a low pH cleanser in the morning and an alkaline cleanser in the evening. The best way to maintain your skin's pH balance is to find a happy medium, not leaning too far in either direction. Remember, everyone's skin is different. Find the right combination of cleansers that works for you and use them appropriately.

I was worried this mild acidic cleansing foam might not have enough cleansing effectiveness, but it even removed light sunscreen well. After removing my makeup with an oil cleanser, I lathered this up and it washed away completely without leaving any residue. However, for heavy makeup, you'll need to double cleanse.
ConsThe cleansing effectiveness was a bit weak around the eyelids and areas with wrinkles.
TipFor best results, apply it like a cleansing balm by spreading it on your face first, then lather it up for a thorough cleanse.

It's not burdensome to use in the morning, and it works well as a second cleansing step in the evening after the first cleanse. While there have been times when sunscreen didn't feel completely removed, I've used it for almost a year without any issues. The lather is rich and gentle, making it an all-around reliable product. In fact, reliable, middle-of-the-road cosmetic products are often the best! The price and ingredients are reasonable, and it goes on sale occasionally, so it's easy to use without worry.🍀
ConsThere really isn't anything. There's nothing, really?? There's truly nothing.

A solid, easy-to-use product!
ConsWhile I didn't find any particular drawbacks, I probably won't repurchase it.

Being slightly acidic, it's great for sensitive and dry skin, so I've made it part of my daily routine. I especially use it for my morning cleanse without fail. The ingredients are excellent and gentle. I haven't experienced any irritation, blemishes, or allergic reactions while using it. Although I usually apply moisturizer right after cleansing, so it's hard to compare, the brief moments I've had a bare face, I didn't feel significant dryness or deep dryness. Despite being mildly acidic, which made me think it wouldn't lather well or have good cleansing effectiveness, it actually produces a nice foam and cleanses effectively. I've heard that using only mildly acidic cleansers can lead to small bumps, so I use a slightly alkaline foam cleanser once or twice a week in the evening. This product is my go-to for daily use. This routine has been great for exfoliating without irritating my skin.
ConsI've been using this product without any issues, so I don't have any complaints so far. I'll likely repurchase it when I run out.
TipIf you notice your skin becoming rough with excess dead skin cells after using only mildly acidic products, it's recommended to occasionally use a slightly alkaline cleanser for a thorough cleanse.
