I'm currently using this as an exfoliating toner and I love how refreshingly clean it leaves my skin! In winter, I layer it with other toner formulas, making it perfect as a first-step toner. The wide opening sometimes causes spills, but you get used to it over time. Even though it's labeled as Step 1, it doesn't mean it's alcohol-free. It contains a small amount of alcohol. I recommend consulting with a store associate to choose the right step for your skin type before purchasing. - po******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedSep 11, 2022
After using it, I feel refreshed and it seems to effectively remove impurities. Using cotton pads to wipe it off daily might be a bit harsh on the skin. - fn********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 3, 2021
This is a product I personally enjoy. I used to use something even gentler, but this one feels a bit stronger. At first, I got a small hive, but as I continued using it, my skin seemed to build up a tolerance and it became fine again. It might be a bit intense for super sensitive skin initially. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinAug 29, 2020
I always use this product frequently as I believe it's great for oily skin. It feels a bit too slippery, and I think it would be even better if they could improve that aspect. - le********Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessApr 9, 2020
It effectively removes dead skin cells and provides a refreshing, cool sensation. The large size allows for generous use without worry, so I felt comfortable applying it liberally. The alcohol-based scent is quite strong. In the past, I might have overlooked this, but now I'm questioning whether it's really necessary to use, especially since there are many other exfoliating toners available. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 9, 2019
The alcohol content provides a slight refreshing sensation. The price is reasonable for the amount you get. I bought this as an alternative to SK-II Clear Lotion, but it feels more irritating than refreshing. The hydration is on the weaker side, as I feel tightness after using it as a toner. When applying with a cotton pad, the texture of the pad is more noticeable compared to other toners, and it feels more irritating. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedJun 9, 2019
I've been using this product for over a decade. It effectively evens out my complexion after cleansing. I remember when I first used it, the alcohol scent was quite strong. However, I don't notice it anymore! - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinMay 5, 2019
It absorbs quickly and comes in a generous size, which somewhat justifies the high price. I couldn't tell if it actually helped with blemishes at all. The lack of a cap on the bottle made it really inconvenient to use. It seemed to evaporate too quickly, leading to deep dryness. The alcohol smell was also overwhelming. I poured it into a mist bottle and used it as a facial spray! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJan 30, 2019
It doesn't cause much irritation. Initially, I was concerned about the alcohol content being quite high in the ingredient list, expecting some stinging or burning sensation. However, it's surprisingly gentle and non-irritating. Still, I'd recommend those with alcohol sensitivities to avoid it. The noticeable alcohol scent after use suggests it's not a small amount, though. It works great as a cleansing toner. When used with a cotton pad, it leaves a refreshing feeling - likely due to the alcohol content. Despite this invigorating sensation, it doesn't cause excessive dryness. Even for my combination dehydrated skin, it wasn't drying. I tried this after hearing so much praise for Hanyul's watery toner, but found that one's strong alcohol smell and inability to address deep dryness led to increased sebum production. Since then, I've generally avoided toners with alcohol. However, this product worked well for me without causing noticeable dryness. The bottle opening is too wide. It's wider than most emulsion bottles, making it easy to spill. You'll need to be careful when using it and pay attention to how much you're pouring out. I've noticed that with wide-mouthed cosmetics, I tend to use more product without realizing it. Alcohol is quite high on the ingredient list, and there's a noticeable alcohol smell. While it doesn't feel particularly drying during use, the strong alcohol scent makes me feel like it might be more drying than it is. I've heard that for Clinique toners, the lower the number, the more suitable it is for dry skin. Despite being a '1', the alcohol content is a bit bothersome. Clinique stores often have promotions where they give out samples or travel-sized kits with other purchases. It might be a good idea to try a miniature version first, and if it works well for you, then consider buying the more cost-effective larger size. - ba*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedAug 8, 2018
I accidentally bought this at Lohb's, thinking it was the Clarifying Moisture Emulsion I used to use. However, it's not bad for exfoliating during summer. I think it's a reliable product for cleansing and refining skin texture. You just need to soak a thick cotton pad thoroughly and wipe your face once. Even without rubbing hard, you can see residue on the pad, which makes it perfect for its original purpose as a 'toner'. Another plus is the lack of artificial fragrance. Sure, there's an initial strong alcohol scent and a weird smell at the end, but I prefer this to artificial scents. Clinique isn't overpriced for the quantity (I think I got the 400ml bottle for about 40,000 won on sale), so it's a safe choice if it suits you. As someone with dry skin, I used the regular Clarifying Emulsion before, but this works well without much deep dryness, even for dry skin in summer when oil production increases. It's also nice and cooling, which seems good for back blemishes. I gave some to my boyfriend, and he likes using it after shaving around his mouth and chin, saying the alcohol makes it feel like it's disinfecting. Compared to the regular Clarifying Emulsion, the alcohol sensation is stronger. Fortunately, it's denatured alcohol, so even my alcohol-sensitive skin doesn't react much, but the strong smell is unavoidable. No wonder it's nicknamed 'soju skin'. Oddly, after the alcohol evaporates, a peculiar scent remains, and it's not pleasant. I use SK-II Pitera afterwards to combat deep dryness, and this product rivals Pitera in terms of unpleasant smell. On the bright side, it lacks artificial fragrance, which I appreciate. Also, it might be too drying to use twice a day as the name suggests. I only use it in the evening after cleansing, and in the morning I just rinse with water and use a different toner. Even for oily skin types, using it twice daily might irritate the skin long-term, especially as the weather gets drier from autumn. It's also a bit contradictory that while they've removed artificial fragrance, they've added artificial coloring, which turns the cotton pad slightly greenish. This might not suit those sensitive to dyes. In my opinion, it's a decent summer product, but with so many options for cleansing toners these days, it's hard to call it the best. However, it's not just like wiping with water - you can clearly see residue and dead skin cells being removed, so it still fulfills its original purpose effectively. Unlike the Clarifying Moisture, this really cleanses the skin, which can cause some tightness. To combat deep dryness, it's better to pat on a water-based essence rather than a sticky one, then finish with an emulsion or cream. This approach significantly reduces dryness.
