Simple and gentle ingredients for a sunscreen. As a mineral sunscreen, it leaves almost no white cast. It doesn't feel sticky or greasy. The lightweight emulsion-type formula absorbs well. It washes off easily when cleansing. The cap is difficult to open - makes you wonder why they chose this design. Disappointingly, it's a 2020 production, not the latest batch. Contains ethanol, so those with sensitive skin should take note. After 2 weeks of use: No eye irritation or blemishes, good UV protection, and matches my complexion well, making my skin look good. However, it's only April, and in the dry spring weather, my skin feels very tight after a while. Definitely best for summer use. As we move into fall, it might be better to switch to a more hydrating type of sunscreen. I ordered this as a replacement since the Easy Sun Ultra Shield was out of stock. I wanted a mineral sunscreen, and this emulsion-type, almost water-like texture applies smoothly. This seems to prevent the white cast. I'm a bit concerned about the UV protection since it's a mineral sunscreen, so I apply several thin layers. It dries quickly. Due to the ethanol content, I'd recommend it for summer use. When opening for the first time, twist the cap upwards but don't grip the bottom tightly - there's no seal, so the contents might spill out. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 18, 2020
I discovered this product by chance two springs ago and initially bought the 40ml size. Since then, I've gone through at least 7 bottles of the 70ml size, though I haven't kept an exact count. During fall and winter, I switched to an alcohol-free sunscreen due to dryness issues, but as the weather's warming up, I'm back to this one. The fact that I've consistently used this product speaks volumes about its quality. I'm usually quick to switch products if I'm not satisfied, and even if I finish a bottle, I'm always on the lookout for something better. I've been using this product so well that I thought it would eventually gain popularity, but it seems that's not the case. I'm writing this review in hopes that it won't be discontinued. It's a physical sunscreen with zinc oxide only. I'd heard that zinc oxide blocks both UVA and UVB, but I didn't know it could achieve SPF 50+ and PA++++ on its own. The curved opening seems designed for stick-like application, but for hygiene reasons, I squeeze it onto the back of my hand and apply a bit more than the recommended amount to my face. 1. Ingredient composition The biggest advantage of this sunscreen is its ingredient list. There are only 15 ingredients(!), which seems to be the bare minimum. Often, you see products with long lists of various extracts and essential oils (with questionable percentages), but for truly sensitive skin, the shorter the ingredient list, the better. 2. Minimal white cast While there is some white cast, it's much less compared to other physical sunscreens I've used. Zinc oxide-only sunscreens are rare, probably due to the white cast issue, but considering the high SPF and minimal white cast, I suspect the zinc oxide is nano-sized. Some people are wary of nanoparticles, and companies often play on these fears, but personally, I don't think nanoparticles are a concern (if skin absorbed everything so easily, we wouldn't have so many skin issues). I think it's actually good if it improves the user experience. The intensity of the white cast can vary depending on the moisturizer used under the sunscreen. In my case, my morning routine consists of just a vitamin C serum and sunscreen after cleansing, so the white cast isn't very noticeable. However, as oil production increases in the afternoon, the white cast can become more visible. See the tips and photos for more details. 3. Texture While not quite liquid, it's quite thin and spreads easily with a hydrating feel. It finishes with a comfortably moist feel without any stickiness. 1. Dryness There's an initial moisture feel, but as the alcohol evaporates, you might experience some dryness depending on your base skincare. During summer, the serum + sunscreen combination was sufficient, but from early fall, I started feeling some tightness and switched to a different sunscreen. 2. Cleansing Like all physical sunscreens, this product inevitably requires a first cleanse with cleansing water/oil/milk etc. Aside from the cost of first cleansers, the daily double cleansing can be a concern for skin stress. However, this product is relatively easy to remove, and I found that cleansing water followed by a water rinse (lukewarm) was sufficient. It even comes off with Biore's cleanser (which is quite strong), so lately I've been skipping the double cleanse. (Please refer to the photo) To clearly show the degree of white cast, I had to apply it on dark leather. Therefore, the results may not be 100% identical to application on skin, but it gives a general idea. From left to right: (1) No moisturizer: Applied directly on bare surface. (2) Serum A: Vitamin C serum with some moisturizing ingredients. (3) Serum B: Vitamin C serum with various moisturizing ingredients and a bit of oil. (4) Oil: 99.5% safflower oil (5) Emulsion: An oil-based emulsion. I allowed about 20 minutes for the sunscreen to set. Due to lighting issues, the difference may not be very noticeable, but the white cast does decrease slightly after setting. Summary: It appears that base products with higher oil content increase the white cast. Even if there's minimal white cast after setting, it seems to reappear as the skin becomes oilier. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 23, 2019
As someone with extremely oily and super sensitive skin, I couldn't use just any sunscreen. However, I've been using this one for almost a year now, and it hasn't caused any blemishes. I think it's really good! The downside is that it dries quickly, leading to some dryness and a bit of dead skin cells appearing on the surface. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 16, 2018
First off, I loved how gentle the ingredients are! My skin is sensitive and acne-prone, so it changes a lot with the seasons, my body's condition, and different cosmetics. But after applying this, I didn't experience any blemishes :-) Also, it doesn't have that intense white cast typical of mineral sunscreens, and it absorbs well, making it easy to spread on my face with my hands. I didn't experience any eye irritation or anything like that either. The packaging was a bit inconvenient, unfortunately. After application, it feels slightly moisturizing and leaves a bit of a greasy sheen, but when I go out, it gradually dries out. Eventually, it becomes so dry it's maddening. If you have dry skin, you might find it quite dehydrating.
