I've tried White Dress, Celimax, AHC, Peripera, and LaboKare. I always used to test them on my hand at Olive Young before buying, and they seemed moisturizing and didn't pill. But when I applied them to my face, they'd leave a white cast and make my skin feel super tight. So I gave up on brightening moisturizers for a while and just used foundation that matched my dark complexion (I use NARS foundation in Punjab - the medium shade, not the light one - and even that makes my face look brighter). Then I got selected for the Hwahae Testers program and tried this product for about a week before writing this review. First off, when you use the right amount, it instantly brightens your skin! (I only applied it to half my hand, and the line was still visible even after washing!) - Most brightening moisturizers do brighten, but what matters is how long it lasts and whether it actually improves your complexion over time when used consistently. Most brightening moisturizers claim to be moisturizing, but even if they feel hydrating at first, after an hour my skin feels like it's cracking. That's why I couldn't stick with them. Usually, when I apply makeup over a brightening moisturizer, it causes dead skin cells to pill up like dirt and makes my makeup look cakey. But with this one, while it feels moisturizing underneath, the surface becomes slightly powdery after about 5 minutes, so my makeup doesn't look as cakey (though it still does a bit because my skin is in bad condition right now).
ConsWhen you first apply it, it's so moisturizing that if you try to put on foundation right away, it just slides around and won't stick. However, if you wait a little bit for it to set, you'll experience the magic of your usual shade 23 foundation looking brighter instead of darker on your skin.
TipDon't apply makeup immediately after using this - wait a bit for it to set. Don't try to achieve an extreme brightening effect by applying too much, or you'll end up with a white cast. Use a moderate amount! Use it consistently! I've been using it for about a week, and I've gone from using NARS Punjab to using Fiji! I'm going to keep using it and aim for even lighter shades!
