Being an oil-based cleanser, it effectively removed makeup and sunscreen. I mainly used it for my first cleanse, and when I massaged it on my chin and around my nose for about 30 seconds to a minute, I noticed it even helped remove some sebum. Unlike the Shu Uemura cleansing oil, which had a strong scent and left my skin feeling tight after washing, this one didn't have those issues. It's gentle yet removes makeup well. (For reference, I don't typically wear heavy makeup.) The downside is that while the instructions suggest using 2 pumps, the texture is a bit thicker compared to Shu Uemura's, so using just two pumps felt a bit dry. I ended up using at least 3-4 pumps, which means I'm going through the product much faster than expected.
