For some reason, when I take off my mask, the makeup on the edges of my cheeks and chin looks like it's pilled up like dirt. I've tried different skincare products and cushions, but it keeps happening. The Extra Gel also pilled slightly, but with the Face Gel, my makeup completely pills up like dirt. So I only use it when I'm not wearing makeup or just on my body. Strangely, I can't find any other reviews mentioning this pilling issue.

I initially used the Allie Extra Gel and finished a whole bottle. This time, I bought the Face Gel, which is said to have better makeup longevity. I loved the sun protection, how it absorbs, and the scent. When I first applied makeup over it, I thought, 'Wow, it's for the face, so makeup adheres well, and it's better than what I was using before. I should keep using this!' The super friction-proof and super waterproof qualities were great.

How to apply the full amount of sunscreen and still achieve a makeup-like finish:

Condition 1: Ensure your skin is well-hydrated
Apply toner at least twice to thoroughly dampen your skin and let it absorb. This prepares your skin to handle a large amount of sunscreen. It's the same principle as using a sheet mask before makeup for better application. Just as you'd use a mask to help a small amount of foundation or cushion apply better, you need to hydrate well to help a large amount of sunscreen absorb properly. In short, do your hydrating toner step 2-3 times. If you don't prep your skin properly and just apply the full amount of sunscreen, even the best products can look cakey, settle into lines, or cause makeup to break down.

Condition 2: Apply sunscreen in 2-3 layers (Very important)
Even though we apply much less foundation or cushion than sunscreen, we still layer it carefully and pat it in. If you slather on a 500 won coin-sized amount of sunscreen all at once, it can't adhere properly, and any makeup on top won't stick well or last long. Instead of trying to spread a large amount evenly, it's much better to divide it into 2-3 applications. Squeeze out two and a half finger-lengths and apply in 2-3 layers. Wait 30 seconds to 1 minute between layers to allow for some fitting time. You can use a spatula for gentle, even application.

Condition 3: Wait at least 10 minutes after applying sunscreen before starting base makeup (Most important, five stars!!)
You could actually wait between sunscreen layers too, but since that's not practical in the morning, I suggested applying the second layer right after the first has settled. To allow that large amount to absorb and adhere, wait 10-20 minutes before applying cushion foundation. The result will definitely be better compared to applying base makeup immediately after sunscreen. I'm certain about this. The recommended waiting time varies by season and skin type. Experiment to find what works for you! Try 10 minutes one day, 15 the next, then 20. In summer, I found makeup applied well even after waiting 30 minutes.

Surprisingly, I follow all three of these conditions when doing my makeup!

Unfortunately, it's been discontinued... The new version has a slightly different filter composition, so I'm hesitant to buy it.

Apart from being a Japanese product, I'm very satisfied.

As mentioned earlier, it has a slightly powdery finish, so if you prefer a dewy look, I recommend the Nuance Change from the same brand.

It can settle into fine lines under the eyes. Since it's also a bit powdery, I use a different sunscreen around my eyes as it might not be good for the delicate eye area.

Using the correct amount of sunscreen is incredibly important. If you only apply half, you're only getting half the protection. You need to apply about 3/4 of the recommended amount to get even half the effectiveness. That's why I've been searching for a sunscreen that allows for makeup application even after applying the full amount. This product is exactly that.

1. Japan was the first to develop sunscreens, and Anessa is known for its proven sun protection.

2. It offers PA++++ protection against UVA rays that cause photoaging. They also claim to have their own UVA blocking technology. While the UVA-blocking ingredients might be lower on the ingredient list, I trust they've done their research.

3. It has 'friction-proof' technology. Apparently, 20% of sunscreen can disappear from your face over time even without touching it, but this feature makes it feel like it'll stay put longer. The product indeed feels moisturizing yet firm on the skin. It's not for nothing that it feels like a makeup base!

4. As mentioned, 20% can disappear due to natural oils and sweat. That's why it's good to use waterproof or water-resistant sunscreens. This product is water-resistant for 80 minutes. As I said before, it really feels like it's clinging to your skin and won't come off easily.

5. The recommended amount of sunscreen is 0.75g, which is about two and a half finger-lengths squeezed out thickly, not thinly. People who've tried applying the correct amount know it can be daunting to go out looking like that... let alone adding cushion foundation on top! That's why I love this product - it frees you from that worry. Following the tips I'll share below, you can apply makeup almost invisibly, even if it's not quite like applying cushion to bare skin.

6. When you apply the full amount, there's a slight tone-up effect, so on days when you don't need to look super polished, this alone can be enough.

7. Anessa products generally have a slightly powdery finish. I have combination skin and can use this in spring, summer, and fall, excluding winter.

8. They say it has fine pearls, but I don't really notice them. They're not visible under cushion foundation.

9. The scent is also pleasant.

In summary, this product is from a brand known for excellent sun protection, doesn't show even when applied in the correct amount, and allows for smooth makeup application on top. It's fantastic!

The price is a bit on the higher side, which is slightly disappointing. But other than that, I'm satisfied!

I bought this product because a friend recommended it from their dermatologist. My skin type: Acne-prone combination dehydrated skin. Recently, I've been wearing masks a lot, and my cheeks, which used to be blemish-free, started breaking out. That's why it was recommended to me. 

Texture: The consistency is just right! Not too thin, not too thick, but perfectly in between with excellent absorption. It's almost like an emulsion, making it easy to apply.

Stickiness: None at all! I used it comfortably even in summer.

Skin irritation: There was absolutely no irritation! Since it doesn't have any color-correcting effects, it doesn't clog pores either.

Pilling: It's great to use before makeup! There's no pilling at all, and it's incredibly hydrating. Highly recommended for combination dehydrated skin!

After using it, I developed many small, millet-like blemishes, so I had to stop. At first, I didn't know the cause, but when I stopped using this sunscreen, they significantly reduced.

I really liked how it felt after applying. It's like a clean, fresh sunscreen.

Make sure to spread it evenly! When you do, you won't need a separate makeup base.

As expected, the ingredients aren't the best. You'll need to be diligent with cleansing. I only use this when I'm going out and wearing makeup.

The application experience is top-notch. It adheres perfectly to the skin before makeup. For someone like me who loves a matte finish, there's no better product. I even use it in winter! And surprisingly, it doesn't leave my skin feeling dry.

In summer, it felt a bit stuffy under the mask. Since it's not a very hydrating sunscreen, the matte finish combined with the drying effect of the mask left a constant feeling of sunscreen on the skin.

When I didn't want to wear makeup, applying just this was fine due to its slight white cast. It also pairs well with eye makeup, looking better than bare skin.

While I used to be skeptical about whether hydrating sunscreens alone provide proper protection, this one gave me confidence in its effectiveness. It has a slight white cast and really feels like you're applying sunscreen.

Rather than having a typical moisturizer texture, it applies a bit thickly and feels matte when spread on the skin. While matte on the outside, it's quite hydrating underneath. If you've done a more hydrating skincare routine beforehand, it's easy to spread. However, if you've rushed through your basic skincare, applying this sunscreen can be a bit challenging.

There's not much to dislike, but if I had to pick something, it would be the scent. It's not great. Also, being a Japanese product, I do have some slight reservations.

For the first time using a sunscreen, I noticed my skin becoming lighter... Before, I always wondered, 'Why does my face keep getting darker even when I apply sunscreen?' I felt sad every time I looked in the mirror, but after using this sunscreen, my skin subtly started to brighten again! I compared my skin color with the back of my hand daily, and honestly, it lightened by about 0.3 shades!! (after just a month and a half of use) You might think that's not much, but I've been getting darker continuously since I was in my 20s... Once I tanned, I could never return to that fair complexion I once had. Sunscreen was just to prevent further darkening, but even this slight brightening makes me happy every day. Of course, there's a limit to this effect, but even now, it's the best sunscreen for me. Additionally, it doesn't sting my eyes, has great absorption with minimal white cast, doesn't dry out my skin, and isn't too rich. It's really fantastic!

It's terrible for the skin... I have super sensitive skin and break out in hives when I use octinoxate (also known as ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, an organic UV filter). The severity of the hives depends on the concentration of the ingredient. But this one? By far the worst reaction I've had to any sunscreen. About 10 seconds after applying, blisters start forming like I'm in a horror movie... They must have really loaded it up with octinoxate. I guess that's why the sun protection is so good...^^... 

The important thing is, octinoxate is known to be bad not just for extremely sensitive skin, but for normal skin too. It's known to cause allergies and can even disrupt female hormones when absorbed into the body. It's even detected in breast milk if used during pregnancy (check the EWG website). I gave this sunscreen to my best friend with normal skin, and after a few weeks, her skin became super sensitive and she had to stop using it... So if you're going to use this, definitely do a patch test. Or, since the sun protection is so good, you could use it only on days when you'll be in direct sunlight for a long time.

If you're blessed with skin that's not sensitive to octinoxate, this is highly recommended!

Insane sun protection! (See attached photo) In China, they tested various famous sunscreens by applying them on people's backs and walking in direct sunlight for 3 hours. This sunscreen came out as the undisputed winner! Notice how the skin inside the purple circle is barely tanned? For reference, the blue circle is Anessa... So this one's even better than Anessa... Yeah... This sun protection is out of this world!
