No irritation, but personally feel a slight cooling effect • Effects: Water-soluble vitamin ingredients brighten the face! Focuses on blemish/mark improvement, brightening, and hydration • Personal review: My face tends to get dry during seasonal changes, but this serum instantly provides vitality and hydration, making me satisfied every time I use it. Most essences and serums come in glass bottles with droppers, which can be a bit cumbersome, but the pump format makes this so much easier to use! There's a subtle cooling effect right after application, which feels refreshing and nice. It's so gentle that I can apply it right after cleansing without any irritation. The texture is thicker for a serum, providing good hydration and forming a thin moisture barrier - you could even use it instead of an emulsion in summer. I don't have many blemishes and am naturally fair-skinned, so I can't really tell about the blemish-improving or whitening effects, but I definitely notice my skin looks more vibrant than before!
ConsI've been using it every evening for just over a week, and there's no sign of blemishes or any disappointments in its use. For a Hwahae product, it's surprisingly fragrant. I thought it might contain added fragrances, but looking at the ingredients, there are none! The scent might be from rosemary oil. It's a natural herbal scent that doesn't linger and dissipates as you massage it in.
TipNo special tips, but as always, it's important to follow the correct order of application based on product texture and allow proper absorption time between layers. This serum is thicker than most, so it's best applied after your essence. e.g. Toner, Skin (wait 10+ seconds) -> Essence, Serum (wait 15+ seconds) -> Emulsion (wait 30+ seconds) -> Cream (wait 30+ seconds) -> Eye cream

It applies smoothly without any stickiness, leaving the skin feeling fresh and hydrated while absorbing quickly. The pump bottle design is a plus, allowing for easy dispensing of just the right amount. As someone with blemish-prone skin and concerns about dark spots and marks, I had high hopes for this product. After using it for several days, I noticed subtle but visible improvements! It was particularly effective on recent post-acne hyperpigmentation. It's been a while since I've found a product that actually works, so I'm truly satisfied with these results. While it's not fragrance-free, the scent dissipates quickly. Even with my sensitivity to fragrances, I've been able to use it without issues. There's a strong initial herbal aroma with hints of floral notes, but it fades within a minute, causing no discomfort.
ConsAs mentioned earlier, while the product feels light and refreshing due to its low oil content, it offers minimal hydration. Those with dry skin might find it insufficient for their moisture needs. Also, although the scent fades quickly, it's not a fragrance-free product. If you're averse to herbal, medicinal scents, it's advisable to test the product before purchasing. Aside from these points, I was satisfied with all other aspects of the product.

Cons- If you're extremely sensitive to scents, you might notice a very faint medicinal smell initially. However, this doesn't linger and the product becomes essentially fragrance-free after a moment

The fluid-like texture makes it easy to spread. Compared to areas where I didn't apply it, my complexion looks a bit brighter.
ConsIt has a fresh herbal scent that might be hit or miss for some people. However, the fragrance dissipates quickly after absorption, so it's not too bothersome.

It's Hwahae Fighting Cutie here! Today, I'll be reviewing the AXIS-Y Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment Serum! As someone who hasn't settled on a single skincare product and tends to hop around, I've been barely getting by this winter with just skin and emulsion. As a result, now that we're in the dead of winter, my skin has become dry and dehydrated, ironically leading to increased sebum production. In the midst of this, I was lucky enough to win a chance to try the 'AXIS-Y Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment Serum' through The Hwahae Testers program! Talk about perfect timing! Let's dive in! First, the positives! 1. Excellent absorption and application As someone looking for a product to use after my exfoliating toner, I was very satisfied with how well this product applies and absorbs! While it doesn't provide intense hydration upon application, it's perfect as a lightweight layer following toner. The texture spreads smoothly and evenly on its own when dispensed (please refer to the photo). 2. Oil control and skin texture improvement While it's marketed as a product specialized for pigmentation and blemish care, I noticed improvements in sebum control and skin texture! Especially as the serum absorbs quickly, it seems to help reduce sebum production, which in turn helps smooth out the rough skin texture caused by excess oil and uneven skin! Although I've only used it for about a week and haven't noticed significant lightening of pigmented areas, I see potential for naturally fading dark spots with consistent use as it hydrates the deeper layers of skin!
Cons1. A somewhat ambiguous scent that might be divisive Personally, I don't have strong aversions to scents, so I used it without issues, but my first impression when using the product was 'Oh, it smells like medicine...!' There's also a slight hint of an alcohol-like scent, which might be off-putting for those who dislike such fragrances! (The scent isn't particularly strong or long-lasting, though) 2. Insufficient hydration when used alone My skincare routine consists of 4 steps: exfoliating toner, followed by this serum, then emulsion and cream! I wouldn't recommend using this product alone or as a final step after toner! You might be thinking, 'Wait, didn't you say it had good hydration earlier?' Well, while it absorbs well into the skin, I didn't feel like it maintained skin hydration on its own. Therefore, I recommend using it as a base layer in the middle of your skincare routine.
TipApply between skincare steps!

If you have pigmentation, dark spots, or freckles, consistent use might help improve those blemishes too. Skin hydration After application, my skin felt moisturized and plump. The plant-based squalane is said to provide hydration and protect the skin barrier. Skin soothing Papaya fruit and pot marigold extracts are meant to hydrate and calm the skin. I could really feel it soothing my skin that had been irritated by cold winds. These extracts give it a slight herbal scent when applying. Ingredients Checking the ingredients on Hwahae, it really has clean components. It also contains effective whitening ingredients like rice bran extract and niacinamide, making it a serum that can be used effectively without irritation. Texture and application It has a gel-like texture with medium viscosity. It's translucent and neither too runny nor too thick - a texture that shouldn't be polarizing. Just right! It also applies very nicely, going on lightly while still being quite moisturizing. Absorption I can't stand stickiness or heaviness on my skin, but this absorbs completely while keeping the skin hydrated deep down. I really love that it's not a heavy formula.
ConsLightness I have normal skin so it was fine on its own, but those with dry skin or during this dry season might find it insufficient when used alone. Scent As mentioned above, since it doesn't contain added fragrances, it has a natural, herbal smell from the ingredients. It's a slight herbal scent that might be hit or miss for some, which is why I've listed it as a con. However, it's not a strong scent and it fades quickly. Packaging It looks a bit like an ointment tube and feels clunky. The tube container with a pump made me think it might be difficult to use up completely towards the end.
TipUsing it together with the toner and cream from the same line is said to enhance the effects. If you find the serum alone insufficient or are concerned about blemishes or skin marks, it might be good to try using the entire line consistently. When using it at night, layering it thickly as a sleeping pack really improved my skin condition the next day.
