Here's my review of Bobbi Brown's Desert Sun lipstick: Texture: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) It's so moisturizing that you don't need to apply lip balm separately. Dead skin/wrinkle emphasis: ★★★★★ I usually dislike the feeling of lip balm, so I rarely use it even when my lips are chapped in winter. As a result, I don't wear lipstick much in winter. But this product changed my mind! It barely emphasizes dead skin, and even after some time, it's only slight. Considering my usual lip condition, this is a total lifesaver. I absolutely love it! Color payoff: ★★★★★ When swatched on the hand, Desert Sun has a strong orange undertone that seems suited for warm-toned individuals. However, when applied, it looks great on everyone, regardless of warm or cool undertones. My sister has warm undertones while I'm cool-toned, but it suits us both beautifully and looks different on each of us. We both adore this product! For bold makeup or when I want to emphasize my lips, I apply it fully for intense color. For a softer look, I apply it lightly for a different effect. My friends always ask what I'm wearing! Longevity: ★★★ I thought lipsticks would fade faster than tints since they don't stain as much, but this one seems to fade a bit quicker, possibly due to its moisturizing formula. Value for money: ★★★☆ (3.5/5) It's truly beautiful and high-quality, but as a student, the $43 price tag is quite steep. It requires a big decision to splurge on this pretty item. Still, I believe it's worth the investment! Scent: ★★★★ Personally, I think it has a rich dark chocolate scent. It's not overwhelming, though, and I don't think it would be polarizing. Application: ★★★★★ The moisturizing formula allows for smooth application.
ConsThe price is quite steep. It's too expensive for a student budget. There are many ingredients to be cautious about. Considering it goes into your mouth when eating, that's a bit concerning. When applied moderately, it's not too shiny, but a full application can be a bit too glossy and overwhelming.
TipIf you apply it in small dabs, you can achieve a really natural lip look. You can also mix it with other lipsticks to create your own unique combinations, making it very versatile.
