I've been using this product for its mastihara ingredient, which is said to be beneficial for acne and inflammation. I've gone through so many bottles, I've lost count - probably about 4 or 5 by now. While it doesn't magically make acne disappear, it seems to prevent blemishes from getting worse or more inflamed. It gives me the impression that it's stopping pimples from growing larger. It can feel a bit drying, but that's to be expected from a toner. The price might be a downside for some, but since I live in Greece, I didn't find it particularly expensive. Apparently, mastihara is only found in Greece! If you ever visit Greece, make sure to stock up! Occasionally using it as a skin pack for soothing effects can be beneficial. - hb****Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsRecommendedJan 26, 2020Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

My skin is generally dry, but combination with oily T-zone and butterfly zone. I'm also allergic to high concentrations of fragrances. When I used this product, my daily skincare routine was toner/emulsion > essence > cream, and in the morning: toner/emulsion > essence > cream > mineral sunscreen > dewy foundation. ✏ Great as a first step after cleansing or morning wash This toner gives a refreshing sensation due to its scent and volatility. It works well as an exfoliating toner after cleansing (I avoided the eye and mouth areas as instructed) or as the first step in a morning routine. Since I apply essence after my exfoliating toner anyway, I don't need much hydration in the first step. This product evaporates quickly, allowing me to move on to the essence step promptly. ✏ Soothing effect Just before using this product, I had unexplained redness for a few days. About 5 days into using it, I noticed my skin had returned to its normal state. While it's hard to compare without trying other products under the same conditions, I felt it helped soothe and possibly regenerate my skin. ✏ A unique scent I've never encountered before It has a peculiar smell of alcohol mixed with herbal notes. I got used to it over time, but it's not dramatic enough to overcome the scent barrier, making it difficult to recommend to others easily. ✏ An exfoliating toner that can feel drying Because it evaporates instantly after application, it's hard to feel any moisture-locking effect or hydration. It might not be suitable for those looking for a hydrating first step in their skincare routine. I'd recommend it for combination to oily skin types looking to refine skin texture. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedNov 28, 2019
Purchased the tonic emulsion during an online promotion and used it for a week. 1. The woody sap scent might be divisive, but I found it refreshing and pleasant. It helped calm my blemishes and pimples caused by irritation, and significantly improved my skin texture. 2. The container design is simple, and the cap opens easily, making it really convenient to use. 3. The best part is that my complexion brightened! People around me have noticed that I look more vibrant! The only downside was the price, but since I bought extra during the sale, I don't really have any complaints. Applying it with a cotton pad works wonders for instantly refining my skin texture! - si*****Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedNov 28, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

It helped alleviate my deep dryness to some extent. I was impressed and felt good about the fact that it's made 100% from mastic, a natural antibacterial substance. The scent is strong, but that's the natural smell of mastic. It might be okay once you get used to it. However, mastic isn't suitable for everyone, so it's best to do an allergy test before use. I once tried mastic supplements for stomach issues, but they irritated me and didn't agree with me. It seems my skin doesn't like it either. As someone with sensitive, acne-prone, and seborrheic skin, it unfortunately caused irritation and seemed to worsen my blemishes, so I had to stop using it. Given its texture, it might be better used as a regular toner rather than a doctored one. Since it doesn't contain preservatives, it's best to use it quickly after opening and store it in the refrigerator. The high price is also a bit of a drawback. For those who find it suitable, it's said to work well as a mask. Some people also reportedly turn it into a mist for application. - yd*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 27, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.- The finish is refreshing. It's an emulsion but has a toner-like texture, which I found quite unique. Despite its watery consistency, when you pat it in, it leaves a refreshing yet firm and bouncy finish. I was worried the water-based formula might feel tight as it evaporates, but it actually provides a decent amount of hydration. I think this would be perfect for summer rather than winter use. - The ingredients seem gentle (Mastic Gum Extract). My skin has been acting up lately, so I've only been using acne ointment and aloe cream. When I applied this emulsion at the end, it didn't sting at all and felt very gentle. Usually, when I encounter ingredients that don't suit me, I start breaking out, but I didn't experience any of that with this product. Knowing it's made with natural ingredients from the mastic tree, which only grows on the Greek island of Chios, gives me confidence in the product. The herbal scent also makes me feel like I can trust it when applying. - I tried it with a friend, and she liked it too. This product seems great for those who dislike thick textures when sleeping at night. You can apply it lightly like a toner, and it's not greasy, so my friend was satisfied while using it. - The finish is refreshing, but it can feel a bit dry when used alone. I have slightly combination skin, so the dryness wasn't too severe for me. However, for those with dry skin, it's better to use this after applying a more moisturizing base product rather than using it alone. - As other reviews mention, the herbal scent can be a bit off-putting. It seems to contain all the water-soluble substances from Chios mastic, including the tree sap's scent. I used it anyway, thinking it's better than adding artificial fragrances to mask the smell. - Since the emulsion has a watery texture, it can be inconvenient as it drips when dispensing onto your hand. I think I would have been more satisfied if it came with a dropper. This inconvenience makes me less inclined to reach for it, unfortunately. While it's better to apply with your hands rather than using it as an exfoliating toner, if you find hand application inconvenient, I recommend using a cotton pad soaked with plenty of product. The product itself is so gentle that it's good to use not only on your face but also on your body after showering. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedNov 27, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.(Apologies for the late Hwahae Testers review!) My skin type is combination with lots of acne scars. In winter, if I don't do thorough skincare, my face gets flaky around the edges, but the T-zone remains oily. Since it's quite a watery emulsion, I used it like a toner, specifically as an exfoliating toner. My skincare routine was: Mastihashop Tonic Emulsion > Serum > Moisturizer To briefly highlight the positives: ✓ Unlike other exfoliating toners, it didn't leave my skin feeling dry after the hydration evaporated. ✓ As you can see from my routine, I don't use a separate emulsion, just a moisturizer. Even so, my skin didn't feel dry. ✓ No blemishes or acne appeared at all. ✓ Though similar in texture to my previous toner, it left my skin feeling much more hydrated. ✓ The container was easier to use since it didn't have a screw-top lid. Overall, I was satisfied with the product. I'd even consider repurchasing after finishing this Hwahae Testers sample, which shows how much I personally liked it. While using this product didn't make my scars disappear, I noticed a significant reduction in redness. Though I'm unsure about scar improvement, I'm pleased with how it seemed to calm the overall redness in my complexion. I used it without any issues, but if I had to point out one drawback, it would be the scent... It really surprised me at first! It's kind of like... a mix of herbal medicine and boiled grass? However, after using it two or three times, I got used to it and it was fine. In my skincare routine, I applied a citrus serum after this product, which naturally masked the scent. So unless you're extremely sensitive to smells, you'll probably get used to it after a couple of uses, just like I did. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedNov 27, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

After use, I didn't experience any blemishes or allergic reactions. It was moisturizing and mild. During the day, I either use a more hydrating product with makeup or apply this one in 2-3 layers. At night, I generously soak a cotton pad with this product and use it once, which leaves my skin feeling nicely hydrated. Highly recommended for sensitive skin! The product's texture is a bit too watery. Apart from it running when applied, everything else is great. Try using the thin, multi-layered cotton pads sold at Olive Young. Leave it on your skin for about 2 minutes, then gently wipe. Your skin will feel more hydrated and moisturized. I also like adding a drop or two to my serum for extra benefits. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 27, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

But that means it's an even more definitive, honest review! A note before the review: As mentioned above, I have combination skin, leaning more towards oily. Especially in winter, my skin gets quite greasy, so I always carry oil blotting sheets or powder. I always opt for hydrating foundations. My skin used to be clear, but after using the wrong product, it went haywire and hasn't been the same since. To prevent further damage, I've become more meticulous about checking ingredients. What I love about this product is that it's made with 100% pure extracts, without any additional chemical ingredients! (Note: Since there are no preservatives, you should use it quickly!) What I liked after using: The soothing effect and hydration are top-notch. This was my first time trying a water emulsion, and I was intrigued. I wasn't sure how to use it at first, but I applied it like an exfoliating toner. While I didn't notice much in the morning, in the evening I could definitely feel the hydration and freshness. Before makeup, my oily skin usually 'eats up' my foundation, but this product eliminated excess oil while maintaining hydration, allowing for a cleaner skin appearance. After using it for several days, I noticed the small blemishes around my nose and forehead diminishing. While I don't have redness, the red marks from acne became less noticeable. It also helped control sebum production effectively. What I found disappointing: 1. The scent (woody smell) After skimming through many reviews, I noticed a lot of comments about the smell. As someone sensitive to scents, I found it quite strong, probably due to the pure extracts. It might be surprising for some, but it's not an unpleasant smell. 2. The quantity (220ml) While quality is important, I also believe in generous quantities. The amount might seem adequate, but considering the price, it's quite expensive. It might be difficult for students like me to purchase and use regularly. Recommendation: As it's a gentle water emulsion, I think it would be suitable for those with sensitive skin, as well as pregnant women and babies. Everyone should try the 'Mastihashop H2O Tonic Emulsion'! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedNov 26, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

It doesn't sting or irritate even when it touches wounds! It also seems to have a blemish-soothing effect. I only added this to my skincare routine, and despite my irregular lifestyle, the blemishes on my face have significantly subsided. First off, it was the scent. The fragrance might be polarizing. Initially, I thought 'What's this smell?', but now it reminds me of herbal shampoo(?). As for hydration, I didn't notice much effect. I have combination dehydrated skin, and with the cold weather, when I apply makeup, areas like around my nose and between my eyebrows get dry and my makeup flakes off. Oh, and a word of caution - the formula is quite liquid, so it really flows easily! Be careful when applying. - be*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinNov 26, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

What I loved about this product is that it's so light and watery, I could layer it multiple times without feeling any heaviness on my skin. Even when applied to sensitive areas, there was no stinging sensation. From the moment I used it, I could tell it was made with gentle ingredients. While it didn't completely clear up my skin issues in just a day or two, after about a week of use, I noticed a gradual reduction in blemishes. The strong scent of tree sap was a bit overwhelming every time I used it. Despite applying several layers, the hydration was barely noticeable - it felt almost like applying plain water. I found the best method was to apply about two layers during the toner step, wait for it to absorb, then follow up with three or more layers of my regular toner. This approach noticeably reduced the deep dryness I usually experience.
