After using this product and applying a thin layer of foundation, I've been told twice that my skin has a beautiful glow! Even I noticed that right after application, it creates a subtle shimmer on the face, not an excessive shine. The pearl effect isn't chunky or overwhelming, so it doesn't look artificial at all. It's more like my natural skin has a slight luminous sheen! The texture is also perfect - not too thick, making it easy to layer other cosmetics on top. The consistency is just right, smooth, and absorbs well. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to add a subtle glow to their makeup without going overboard. Despite being called a primer, it doesn't seem to cover pores or uneven texture very well. It's more of a luminous highlighter than a true primer. Also, it's a bit heavier than expected. Make sure to moisturize well before applying this as part of your makeup routine. Rather than using it alone under foundation, I find it works better when mixed with foundation in a 1:1 ratio to enhance the glow. For added dimension, try applying a little extra on areas like the bridge of your nose to sculpt the face. - ak**********Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsJan 24, 2024
It absorbs smoothly and effortlessly. The generous amount means it'll last for quite a while. I bought this hoping it would be a dupe for MAC Strobe Cream, but it's not quite a substitute. The shimmer particles are a bit chunky, giving more of a highlighter effect rather than a subtle glow. - ho******Combination SkinAcne SkinJun 12, 2023
When first applied, it gives a polished look and makes your complexion appear well-groomed The staying power is poor, especially in summer. It starts to break down after about an hour - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJan 22, 2023
I had forgotten about this product, but now I'm planning to repurchase as I realized there's nothing quite like it. Despite my sensitive skin, it didn't cause any blemishes and gave me a subtle glow. I find this cream-type highlighter more convenient and preferable compared to Laura Mercier's powder highlighter. Back then, I used it without knowing the ingredients. Now I've noticed it contains a few cautionary ingredients, so I'm deducting one star. - ur********Dry SkinSensitive SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityOct 22, 2022
You might want to let go of the idea of using this as a substitute for Max Strobe Cream. It's meant to brighten your complexion by one shade, which can lead to some dryness. I find myself wondering why it doesn't brighten all the way, making me ponder which skincare products would pair well with it. The subtle glow tends to disappear once you apply foundation, leaving your skin feeling dry. As someone with deep dryness, I applied this cream hoping for a dewy glow, but it ended up accentuating my dryness instead. I use this for light outings with just sunscreen, or when I'm only applying a light BB cream. It can cause dryness, so you need to carefully consider which products to pair it with. The glow doesn't last long. Use this with a non-sticky sunscreen and a hydrating BB cream for best results. - ql******Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsRecommendedOct 6, 2022
I love VDL's foundation, so I went for their pearl base too~ It's more hydrating than I expected and spreads really well. It applies smoothly like an emulsion, without any patchiness! One layer looks very natural, while two layers seem to give a bit more shimmer. Its subtlety can be both a pro and a con. It's so natural that it's easy to apply. I even liked wearing just this on bare skin for a simple look. It's not sticky at all, and makeup applies well over it! Even with powder on top, it seems to get a bit oilier over time? I wish it could give that shimmery pearl effect without the dewy, glossy look - that's the only downside for me..! Its priming ability is average. It helps prevent foundation from separating, but it's just okay at covering and filling in pores. I'd love to try MAC Strobe Cream for more of a pearl effect! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinRecommendedAug 14, 2022
It's moisturizing and has a beautiful glow. It gives just the right amount of radiance I was looking for. After applying, I feel like a lot of foundation comes off... If only there were no masks to wear. - eu*****Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedJul 10, 2022
This product is rich in hydration and has a lovely pearlescent finish. It's a primer that adds a luminous glow to your skin, similar to the popular M brand strobe cream that was all the rage. What I love about this one is that it feels less oily over time while maintaining that moisturized feel, which is why I switched to Vely Vely after using several tubes of the other brand. While the hydration doesn't last as long as I'd like, it keeps my skin relatively dewy, preventing my base makeup from cracking or dead skin cells from appearing. It spreads smoothly, adheres well to the skin, and creates a great canvas for foundation. I'm also really satisfied with the sophisticated skin luminosity and glow it provides. Honestly, Vely Vely's base products are so good that I can't find any real downsides to mention. - 1s*******Combination SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedMay 19, 2022
I use a small amount when I want to achieve a glow. When applied before foundation, it gives a more moisturized feeling. I sometimes get the feeling it might cause blemishes on my face. It may not be because of this product, but I have that impression, so I only use it occasionally. - ys******Dry SkinAcne SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedMar 6, 2022
I used this as a miniature, and it definitely smooths out the skin, giving the impression that it covers textured pores. It didn't cause any burning sensation on my super sensitive skin either. I don't usually use primers... If I saw dramatic results after carefully applying this, I'd use it despite the hassle, but it's not quite at that level. This seems like a great product for those who are skilled at applying primers.
