I'm really happy with my purchase during the sale event. It was a great deal and I'm enjoying using it. Hair wax should be evaluated based on its hold and how easily it washes out. Unfortunately, the cleansing effectiveness of this one is a bit disappointing. - ur********Dry SkinSensitive SkinDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedFeb 13, 2020
This is a powerful setting wax that's been a staple in TV station makeup rooms for ages. My husband used to dislike jar-type products, so we tried other waxes. But when it comes to value for money, this one takes the cake. I decided to just go ahead and order it, placing it in our powder room. To my surprise, my husband tried it and fell head over heels for it! While its Japanese origin might be a slight concern, everything else about it is absolutely spot-on. The fragrance, setting power, quantity, and price - it's all incredibly satisfying. It's a makeup room essential in broadcasting stations. Need I say more about its effectiveness? The only potential downside might be hygiene concerns due to the jar packaging. Other than that, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. You only need to apply a tiny amount on your fingertips for use. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinDec 12, 2019
Among all the products I've used, this was the easiest to style with. In my opinion, the scent wasn't particularly bothersome, and the price point was reasonable. It causes severe clumping and sometimes gives the feeling that all your hair is falling out. It's as if Gatsby is aiming to release a wax for polishing bald heads next. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJul 23, 2019
It's matte and less sticky. Compared to other products, it has better hold. Since it's essentially a basic form of wax, I recommend this product to students trying hair wax for the first time. (My second choice would be the purple Gatsby.) Being a matte product, when you style your hair or run your fingers through it, it can sometimes feel like your precious strands are being pulled out. (Absolutely not recommended for those with hair loss concerns.) If you don't warm it up sufficiently in your hands before applying, it can leave a powder-like residue similar to dandruff. If you've just conditioned and treated your hair before going out, the disappointment might be even greater. However, these are common drawbacks of matte wax products in general, not specific to this one. In fact, it's so versatile that I've been using it since my teens until now. Take about half to one knuckle's worth of product on your index finger, rub it between your palms to warm it up with your body heat before use. If you have long or thin hair that tends to fall flat, apply it with an upward motion from the roots to create lift. (Note: 90% of hairstyling depends on blow-drying; products just assist.) It's a basic product worth having on hand. Always keep the lid tightly closed to prevent it from drying out. If you can afford it, consider switching to salon products. Also, the longer your hair, the less I'd recommend matte waxes - opt for glossy and softer waxes instead. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinRecommendedSep 26, 2018
I've been using this product exclusively for about two years now... It lasts a long time, and even though I have thick hair, it holds really well... Highly recommended! The strong stickiness is a bit uncomfortable, but... the hold is really good... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJul 30, 2018
It cleanses well and has great setting power, which I really like! I've heard rumors that Gatsby products might cause hair loss, and I'm not sure if this product falls into that category. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinMar 28, 2018
I could create any hairstyle I wanted. The hold was pretty decent. It felt like it didn't wash out well when shampooing, and it was also hard to rinse off my hands. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 30, 2018
I struggled to style my hair with regular wax, but this product worked wonders for setting my style. I'm really pleased with the results. Just a heads up, it doesn't wash out easily with water, so you might need to shampoo a bit longer than usual. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 21, 2018
Gatsby products seem to have excellent hold and staying power. The trade-off for the strong hold and longevity is that it's harder to wash out. It doesn't rinse off easily even when you try to cleanse it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinNov 21, 2017
This product has excellent staying power. The texture is quite firm, so you only need to use a tiny amount each time. As a result, the product lasts a long time. The cleansing effectiveness is way too harsh... Gatsby may be well-known, but this is really extreme.
