Ingredients: As someone with super sensitive skin, I'm extremely picky about ingredients. I've tried everything from high-end brands like Armani and Lancôme to various roadshop foundations, cushions, and BB creams. But within an hour or two of application, I'd get allergic reactions in patches. The best I found was RMS, an American makeup artist brand with great ingredients, but it's only available through direct purchase. While searching for alternatives, I stumbled upon this one, which seemed to have the least harmful ingredients. I used to use NARS Sheer Glow, which has only two cautionary ingredients and caused the least blemishes among easily available products, but I stopped buying it when I learned it was owned by Shiseido. This one also has two cautionary ingredients, but after applying it as a test for 4-5 hours, I didn't see any blemishes pop up. 2. Application: I applied a very thin layer focusing on the center of my face using a foundation brush, then finished with a sponge. It glides on incredibly smoothly. I don't need much coverage and prefer a lightweight foundation as heavy makeup makes my face feel stuffy. This one fits the bill perfectly. While it's lightweight, it doesn't have that slippery silicone feel that I dislike. Instead, it adheres to the skin with a hydrating base-like sensation. 3. Longevity: Since I wore it at home, I'm not sure how well it holds up under a mask. However, I had it on for 4-5 hours, and despite my combination skin that usually gets oily around the nose quickly, this foundation controlled that much better. Given its lightweight formula, the finish is somewhat semi-matte when applied and set. It even wears off gracefully. Keep in mind that this could be due to my very light application.
Cons1. Coverage: I choose foundations based on tone correction and texture rather than coverage, so I didn't pay much attention to this aspect. However, it doesn't seem to offer very high coverage. The formula does seem like it could build up to higher coverage with multiple layers, but I personally loved the semi-matte dewy finish when applied in a very thin layer, so I'm basing my coverage assessment on that.
Tip1. This foundation pairs perfectly with the Zoeva 112 Face Curve brush. While you can apply the foundation directly to the brush, I focus on applying it to the center of my face, so that method leaves too much product on the brush. Instead, I recommend dotting the necessary amount on your face and then blending with the brush. I bought a slightly lighter shade for tone correction and adding volume to the center of my face. It looked a bit stark at first, but after applying with the brush and patting with a damp, dense sponge, the tone softens, resulting in a much more natural and radiant finish.
