I'm not sure how effective it is as a lip balm. The hydration doesn't last long, and when layered over lipstick, the shimmer particles seem too large, creating a somewhat mismatched look wherever it's applied.

The scent is oddly reminiscent of junk food, but in a good way. I rarely use it as a lip balm, instead applying it as a highlighter on my eyelids, cheeks, and nose bridge.

I recommend applying it over a long-lasting tint for the best effect.

The holographic part of the package tends to peel off when carrying it around, which can leave your hands covered in glitter. Of course, I did fiddle with it quite a bit. Also, the lip balm itself contains glitter! If you wear it alone without tint, it gives off a cyber-chic vibe.

When you're feeling down, applying this to your lips gives you the sensation of taking a bite of cake - it really lifts your mood! If you have a chance to visit LA or Manhattan in New York, buy it there. It's cheaper. I purchased mine during a trip to New York.

Regarding the ingredients, I'm not sure about their safety standards in the US. While I didn't experience any side effects, those with sensitive skin should be cautious (this is why I deducted one star). As for hydration, after applying it to my lips before bed, I still felt a slight dryness in the morning.

The cake-like scent probably explains why it's called 'Birthday'! The texture is wonderfully thick. As a tube product, it has a consistency similar to Vaseline, creating a protective coating on the lips. It's perfect for shielding your lips from harsh winter winds. Versatility is another plus - use it as a lip balm on your lips or as a highlighter on your face. It contains fine shimmer particles that add a lovely sparkle.
