The pencil is durable - it doesn't break or crumble when dropped. The application feels great, and being a pencil, it allows for controlled color payoff. I love that it's not overpowering and you can build up the intensity as desired.

It looks absolutely gorgeous when applied with shade 10 from the same product line. When you're too lazy to use brushes for eyeshadow but still want to do eye makeup, mixing these two creates a look that's perfect for the trendy mocha mousse makeup style. Don't trust the product details page for this item! To reduce the chances of disappointment, it's best to swatch the Protage pencils at Olive Young before purchasing.

It's a bit inconvenient that you can't sharpen it without a pencil sharpener, but they provide one, so it's not a major drawback. The color applies well but fades very quickly. If you want intense color, you'll need to reapply frequently when you're out. The cap is round, so if you set it down while doing your makeup, it tends to roll away and fall on the floor. The glitter doesn't adhere particularly well. Blending is essential, but when you blend, some of the glitter particles can scatter.
