Among Holika Holika's mask packs, this is the only one with a charcoal sheet, and I felt it adhered to my skin much better and gave a firmer feel. Maybe because it sticks so well, the essence seemed to absorb better too! I love that Holika Holika mask packs have thin sheets and come in various types, so you can choose one that suits your skin concerns! Also, I love the easy-open feature! The packaging opens wide, allowing you to use up all the remaining essence inside. There wasn't anything I disliked! I was worried that since it's for pore purification, it might dry out my skin afterwards, but surprisingly, my skin became more hydrated! Although it says it's especially good for oily and acne-prone skin, I think even those with dry skin could use it comfortably. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 23, 2020
This sheet mask has the most pleasant feel among all I've tried. It absorbs quickly with almost no slippery residue. While it doesn't feel oily, it gives me that coveted Inner Glow after use. The packaging could be improved. It's inconvenient to open by gripping the corners. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMay 14, 2019
I use sheet masks 3-4 times a week, and compared to other masks, this one is thinner and generously soaked in essence. The sheet is so thin and soft that it feels like it's melting into my skin. After about 15 minutes, when I remove the mask, I notice my pores appear slightly smaller and I see a brightening effect. I'm not a fan of overly sticky masks, and this one isn't too sticky at all - it absorbs well into the skin. I love these masks so much that I bought 40 of them to use regularly! Since this mask focuses on pores, it seems suitable even for super sensitive skin. I didn't find any particular drawbacks with it. When I use a sheet mask, I apply toner first, then a layer of essence before putting on the mask. I leave it on for about 15 minutes. Applying essence before the mask helps the hydration penetrate deeper into the skin, leaving it more moisturized. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinOct 2, 2018
It's moisturizing and, most importantly, didn't cause any blemishes. The absorption was similar to other collagen or firming masks. It also had a calming effect. It must contain a good amount of centella extract because it completely soothed my irritated skin after I accidentally used the wrong mask recently. Rather than leaving a fresh finish, this one has a rich, hydrating finish that maintains moisture for a long time. My skin is generally dry with deep dryness and redness, so it could be considered very dry. I've tried several Holika Pure Essence masks, and they seem good for dry skin overall. This one, in particular, has excellent hydration that lasts. The oil and moisture balance was perfect for me. While I've never had oily skin, those with oily skin who prefer lightweight, fast-absorbing products might not find this suitable. It's ideal for combination to dry sensitive skin types as a daily mask routine for hydration. Despite being labeled for pore firming, it was surprisingly hydrating - so much so that it felt more like a hydration boost than pore care. After Holika Holika was featured on Get It Beauty, there was a shortage of masks and no sales for a while. I stubbornly waited and finally bought 20 sheets for less than 9,000 won online after nearly six months. Honestly, considering the price, the quality was so good it almost made me feel guilty. Once again, it provided hydration to my difficult skin without causing any blemishes, allowing for a clean morning cleanse. It's priced 500 won higher than other Pure Essence masks (original price 1,500 won per sheet), and the black sheet feels similar to the J.Jun Aqua Shine mask for those familiar with it - sturdy and good at holding essence without dripping. The 23ml of essence was so abundant that there was plenty left in the package, which I used the next morning as a quick mask with a cotton pad and even had enough left for evening skincare. It's a product worth buying at full price, but getting 20 sheets for 9,000 won almost feels too good to be true. However, that seems to have been a special event price I was lucky to catch - the current standard price appears to be around 16,000 won for 20 sheets. As always, remember that skincare is YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary), so use reviews as a reference and make smart purchasing decisions! As many have pointed out with other Holika Pure Essence masks, it foams up quite a bit. This isn't a mask that requires rinsing after use, is it? While the foaming wasn't problematic, it was a bit strange for me as I've never experienced this with the many masks I've used before. Well... you should buy this. Compared to other Pure Essence series which contain 20ml, this one has 23ml, and that 3ml difference feels significant. It seems to have much more essence. Also, while it's moisturizing, the sheet quality is much sturdier and adheres better than other series. I've seen many reviews mentioning thinness and tearing as drawbacks for other Pure Essence series, but there's no worry about that with this one - it's very sturdy. If you happen to find this at the same price as other Pure Essence series in Holika stores, choosing this one would be a great deal.
