It's hands down the best emollient scent I've ever experienced in my life! It's the soap scent I've been searching for over two decades.. I'm obsessed with the Dove White Beauty Bar fragrance, and this hand cream truly captures that authentic Dove soap scent. I've tried various body emollients, fabric fresheners, perfumes, and even discontinued fragrances marketed as having the Dove soap scent, but none of them quite hit the mark for me. While it's not a 100% match to the Beauty Bar, it's about 95% similar to that unique sweet, fresh, clean, and soft soap scent you get when the Beauty Bar mixes with water. It's heavenly! However, there's a slight catch.. While the soap scent is strong, there's a very subtle 'off' note. It's similar to the slightly rancid smell you might detect in L'Occitane's Shea Butter hand cream. I'm quite sensitive, so it might just be me, but this slight odor occasionally makes me go 'huh?'.. As time passes, the scent seems to become sweeter rather than maintaining its clean, fresh feel. Much later, when the fragrance has mostly faded, it leaves behind a faint soap smell, like the scent from a soap wrapper! To my nose, it was unmistakably the Dove soap scent, but some people around me said it smelled more like fabric softener! Anyway, if you're a true Dove soap scent enthusiast, I highly recommend you give it a sniff at your nearest Olive Young store. I hope you find the true Dove scent and experience the same joy I did! The hydration is also great. It keeps your hands moisturized until you wash them again with soap, but it feels more like an oily moisture barrier than hydration. There's a slippery feeling until it's fully absorbed. The texture is quite rich, and the absorption isn't the best, which I'll address in the cons section.
ConsDue to its rich texture, the absorption isn't great, to be honest.. It doesn't glide on smoothly, but rather feels like it's being pushed into the skin as it absorbs. I wanted to show this in a photo, but it didn't capture it well.. Please just keep this in mind.. It feels somewhat similar to how Neutrogena hand cream applies. As for absorption, while the formula does turn transparent as it's absorbed, it leaves behind an oily residue that feels slippery. It might feel like there's a layer on your skin, so those who prioritize texture might find it bothersome until it's fully absorbed. It could feel a bit heavy in summer. For me, the scent is so wonderful that I'm giving it five stars regardless of the texture!
TipIn the first photo, the 20ml size is on the left and the 50ml is on the right. I bought the 20ml for around 2,000 won on Coupang, and got the 50ml for 4,000 won during an Olive Young sale! The regular price in Korea seems a bit high.. Coupang is the most convenient for shipping costs and has the lowest price, so I recommend buying the 20ml size there if you're making a single purchase. Also, I wanted to mention this just in case - I tried to stock up on a larger size at a cheaper price by buying from overseas, but the scent is completely different from what's sold in Korea... It's definitely not the Dove soap smell. Some overseas reviews say it's the same, but... it's not..... I'm mentioning this in case anyone else is considering buying from overseas expecting the same scent.
