1. First off, the volume is incredibly generous! For this price, the amount is truly a blessing for a poor student like me.
2. It's gentle. Honestly, I didn't have much faith in Tonymoly's skincare line before, but now I do. I have super sensitive skin, but there's no redness or itching. It's fantastic! I've been a toner nomad, trying various expensive ones, but this is just as gentle as the pricey options.
3. It has the perfect balance of hydration and richness. Unlike pure water-based products like aloe gel that evaporate quickly, this toner is mostly hydrating but has a slight richness at the end. With 1-2 layers, you feel the hydration, and with 3-7 layers, you get a subtle moisturizing effect. It's perfect for the T-zone, and great for combination dehydrated skin and oily skin types in general.
4. Honestly, the scent... some might not like it, but I enjoy the subtle, refreshing finish. It makes the product feel incredibly fresh to me.
5. The massive volume means you can generously soak cotton pads for a daily mask routine without worry.
6. It's slightly heavy for the patting method, but with the generous amount, you can make it work. It's also great for soaking due to its slight viscosity. I love that it works for both methods!
7. This might be TMI, but it's great for body blemishes! Its hydrating formula with a slight protective layer makes morning body blemishes disappear after application.
8. It's quite season-friendly. In fall and winter, you can increase the amount or frequency, or add an emulsion or cream. Personally, I found the moisturizing effect increased from soaking < 3 layers < 7 layers < adding emulsion.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this for sensitive and oily skin types!
1. It might be too light for dry skin types. Even though it seemed to work well on my sensitive and dry areas, it felt like I wasn't applying anything no matter how much I used. I'd recommend a different toner for dry skin.
2. This isn't really a downside, but among the toners I've used, the one most similar to this is Innisfree's Blueberry toner. Both are super hydrating with a slightly acidic feel, but the Blueberry one is a bit richer. If you're oily but willing to do a 7-skin method daily, the Blueberry toner could be enough to complete your basic skincare. Personally, I got lazy and stopped... If you're like me and want to add an emulsion, or if you feel you have too much oil and just need hydration, this Mochi toner is better. I found it easier to adjust oil levels with emulsions after using this. You know how oily skin can actually produce more oil and break out if it's too dry... I've been adjusting my routine based on daily skin condition, sometimes doing 3 layers and skipping emulsion as the weather gets warmer. It's really tricky to find the right balance!
If you find you're getting oily after using this toner, I recommend Innisfree's Broccoli emulsion. It absorbs so well!
