Looking at the photos and reviews, you can see the list of foundations I've used so far. I pride myself on using well-reviewed products, and among them, I thought the VDL Perfecting Lasting Foundation offered good value for money. After using that, I decided to try something new. Packaging: I always find VDL packaging to be clean and luxurious. This one is slimmer than the Perfecting Lasting Foundation, making it more comfortable to hold. Generous gratis: I often shop online, and with a little searching, you can find VDL products with lots of freebies. I can't remember exactly, but I think it came with a mini color corrector set, a brush, a mini lipstick, and foundation samples. I purchased it through Galleria Department Store on Naver Shopping. The free mini lipstick had a great color and application. Reasonable price: Including the main product, freebies, and samples, I got it for 31,000 won with a 7,000 won Naver Pay discount. The original price was 38,000 won. Color: I usually have a 21 shade complexion, but I prefer a slightly lighter look. I switched from A02 to A01 after trying the M01 sample. It's a bright shade without being too yellow or red. Matte finish: It's more matte than the Perfecting Lasting Foundation, but still applies well. It's great for those who like a powder-fresh look or for summer use. On good skin days, it gives a clean finish. Decent coverage: While not high-coverage, it can conceal light spots and small blemishes. If you don't have major skin issues, you shouldn't find it lacking. No darkening: You don't need to worry about your face turning ashy or darker than before application. Average longevity: While not exceptional, it lasts at least 3 hours, up to 5-6 hours. It doesn't get oily when it starts to fade, unlike some dewy foundations that can get greasy around the nose. No significant blemishes or irritation. While not amazing, I've nearly finished a bottle since September. There weren't any major drawbacks that made me want to stop using it or throw it away.
Dryness: The matte texture inevitably leads to some dryness. It feels fine when applied, but deep dryness becomes noticeable over time. Emphasis on dead skin cells: Due to the dryness, it can emphasize wrinkles and make skin look dull on bad skin days. If you have dry skin, make sure to hydrate thoroughly before application. It doesn't feel super fresh on the skin, but it's not overly heavy or noticeable either. Breakdown: All foundations eventually break down, but this one does so in a unique way. At some point, you might notice the foundation clumping into lines, as if it wasn't applied evenly. You can pat it out, but I wonder if it's just me experiencing this? If I were to buy a VDL foundation again, I'd choose the Perfecting Lasting Foundation. I probably won't repurchase this one, though it's still above average. If I had to rate it, I'd give it about 3.5 out of 5.
On days when my skin feels particularly dry, I first apply an oily base like La Roche-Posay tone-up cream or Missha Super Aqua BB cream, which have some oil or moisture content. Then I use a beauty blender to apply this foundation on top. It helps the makeup adhere better. Due to its dryness, it might be more suitable for summer use rather than winter.
