The color payoff is natural, reminiscent of a tinted lip balm, making it a standout product.
ConsWell... While the color shows up better than a typical lip balm, it's overall a reddish-brown shade that tends to wash out the complexion, like a mix of red bean paste and brick. I wanted this color, but was surprised by how dark it actually is. Moreover, there's an unpleasant, pungent smell. When I tested it in-store, I thought the tester might just be old and my new one wouldn't smell, but to my dismay, it had the same strong odor...

ConsAs a lip balm, it feels somewhat lacking. The hydration isn't as impressive as I'd hoped, which is a bit disappointing!

Looks a bit toy-like, but surprisingly sturdy. The lid color matches the lip balm color inside. The slanted cut of the balm makes it visually appealing and easy to apply. Overall, it's neither particularly pretty nor ugly - just looks like a typical color lip balm. (I've been using the Juicy Pang Tint, and this clearly looks like it's from the same line. A'PIEU seems to focus on basics rather than fancy designs. This keeps prices low, making it an affordable brand anyone can use comfortably, though it may lack trendiness.) 2. Hydration It's a solid, average lip balm. As someone who uses lip balm year-round due to dry skin and is quite picky, I find this one works well without any major issues (like not moisturizing properly, feeling too thick and sticky, or being so light it evaporates quickly). It glides on smoothly and moisturizes well, though like most lip balms, you might occasionally see some tinted flakes of dead skin. 3. Color I received all six colors through Hwahae's tester program. At first glance, I thought the colors might be too intense for bare-faced or light makeup looks, which is how color lip balms are typically used. However, when applied, the colors go on sheer, allowing your natural lip color to show through. Even with multiple layers, they don't become overly intense. For me, with naturally darker lips, the lighter shades barely showed up on bare skin, while darker shades just made my lips look a bit more ruddy. You won't get the same vibrant color as shown on the official website unless you completely cover your natural lip color, but with just a bit of sunscreen to mute your lip color, you can achieve a nice tint. CR02 is my favorite - it's a brick brown with a hint of orange, not too deep. It's a sophisticated color that's rare in lip balms! I usually match my makeup to whatever product color I'm into, and this shade works perfectly with my current bare-faced look (thanks to masks and heat). It pairs beautifully with my favorite beige blush and some contouring, even on my warm-toned skin. I'll definitely be using this often! (Other colors) - PK01: Almost transparent with a slight pink stain (the only one that stains) - PK02: Muted rose pink - CR01: Fresh coral that gives a healthy glow - RD01: Red with a hint of plum - RD02: Clear red, very slightly warm and muted The color range offers a good balance of warm and cool tones, with various options for intensity and brightness. It's a diverse selection for a lip balm line.
Cons1. Ambiguous Usefulness It's a bit... ambiguous. While not bad to use, I can't find a strong reason to recommend it. I mainly use lip balm for managing dry lips when I don't need a pretty lip look. But since this has color, I can't use it before bed. So, I'd still need a clear lip balm anyway. For a light, moisturized lip color, couldn't I just layer a bit of my favorite lipstick or tint over clear balm? The way these colors interact with natural lip color can be tricky too. If you're going to use concealer or foundation to neutralize your lip color first, it might be simpler to just use a more pigmented lip product. Considering all this, I question whether such a wide color range is really necessary for a tinted lip balm. 2. Value for Money... for A'PIEU I thought I might not be the target audience for color lip balms and was ready to give extra points for this product doing its job well. But when I double-checked and saw the 9000 won price tag, I realized I wouldn't buy this myself. It seems a bit pricey for A'PIEU, known for its affordability. I've lowered the rating for other colors, though I still appreciate this particular shade.
Tip(Not exactly a pro tip, but consider buying if...) It's easy to apply quickly and feels comfortable on the lips. If you prefer a natural look without heavy makeup, this could be great for adding a bit of color or a subtle lip accent. It's also suitable for students who want something simple and comfortable to use. Especially good for those with pale lips who feel they look sickly without color - this could be perfect for you! And for brick color enthusiasts, this shade is definitely worth trying. (Mask-friendly) Given the current situation with masks and less frequent makeup use, I'll probably use this often. It sits moistly on the lips, so it will transfer if it touches your mask. However, due to most mask designs, it doesn't often come into contact with the lips, and even if it does transfer a bit, the sheer color isn't very noticeable on the mask.
