I'd heard a lot of good things about Manyo Factory shampoo, but my skeptical nature (thinking it might just be hype) kept me from trying it. That is, until I started going to the pool and borrowed my sister's Manyo shampoo. That's what led me to finally make a purchase. As always, this review is based on a product I bought with my own money. Manyo Factory shampoo! It really lives up to the hype! It's quite good! First off, the refreshing scent - could it be from the lemon and rosemary leaf oils in the ingredients? It's a wonderfully cool fragrance, perfect for summer use. The texture is thinner than your average shampoo, but one pump produces enough lather to cover the scalp. For my long hair, I need at least three pumps to wash my whole head. While the lather doesn't last as long as some harsher shampoos, the cleansing power is still effective. Considering the quality ingredients, it actually lathers quite well. I used Nature's Gate before this, and it didn't foam up as nicely. After use, even with my oily scalp, I can go from morning to evening without excessive greasiness. With harsh shampoos, my scalp would stay dry until night but become itchy and irritated. Manyo's gentle formula keeps my scalp balanced - a bit oily by night, but manageable during the day. That's a win-win in my book! Most importantly, my scalp feels healthier. The blend of aromatic oils makes for a soothing scalp massage. It's not exactly moisturizing, but more like a calming effect. Of course, this wasn't noticeable after just one use - I'm writing this review after at least a week of use. I used to have some seborrheic dermatitis and once relied on strong, menthol-heavy shampoos. But now that I've said goodbye to those harsh ingredients, I find Manyo's formula leaves my scalp feeling fresh and has significantly reduced itching. It's amazing! In summer, when we tend to shower and wash our hair more often, I feel I can rely on Manyo shampoo. Even washing twice a day doesn't dry out my scalp. While it's great for oily and troubled scalps like mine, I think those with dry scalps might love it even more. Personally, I prefer this gentler approach to super-degreasing shampoos.
Because the formula is quite thin, those with long hair like me might find that they go through the bottle rather quickly. That's a bit disappointing.
For those with long hair and oily or troubled scalps who wash frequently with Manyo shampoo, here's a tip to make it last longer (though I'm not sure how helpful this will be): I only use Manyo on the areas close to my scalp, and for the lengths, I use whatever other shampoo I have lying around. This way, you can stretch out your Manyo shampoo. Also, for those with oily scalps, you might find it even more effective in winter. While the scent is great for summer, the formula might be more appreciated in colder months.
