First off, this product was an absolute hit for me. The ingredients are gentle, it's fragrance-free, and comes with a dropper for hygienic use. I love how it's just the right balance of oily and moisturizing. It locks in hydration overnight, so I don't wake up with dry skin in the morning. As I entered my early 30s, I've been feeling disappointed with my increasingly dry and dull skin. Then, as luck would have it, I was selected as a Hwahae Tester and received this oil as a New Year's gift. I've always used face oils in winter, but this year I tried The Scent's Squalane Barrier Oil. It's definitely lighter than other brands I've used. For those new to face oils, you might have mixed feelings at first, but that's normal regardless of which one you try. I've experimented with several, and the Barrier Oil gives the lightest, most moisturizing feel. While most oils just feel greasy on the surface, this one seems to lock in moisture deep down, which works well for my dehydrated skin. I've only been using it for two weeks, but I think I'll stick with the Barrier Oil all winter. Remember, even products with great ingredients might not suit everyone. It's the same with supplements, food, or exercise. Looking at other Hwahae Testers' reviews, most haven't used face oils before and have sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin too - while I don't get blemishes, my skin turns red and feels tingly with even a bit of dust or dryness. That might be why oils work well for me. As for application, I use it in this order: toner, essence, regenerating cream, then Barrier Oil. I apply thin layers, carefully massaging each product into my skin. Since I've been wearing a mask for nearly a year, I don't apply heavy makeup. In the morning, I finish with sunscreen, CC cream, and concealer. Since the oil can cause makeup to slide off under the mask, I lightly dust with mineral powder to help it last without drying out my skin.
If I had to point out a downside, it would be the price. The amount you get for the cost is a bit disappointing.
Given how dry my skin is, my hands and feet were also quite chapped. Especially this winter, constantly using hand sanitizer left my hands red and painfully cracked. Even expensive hand creams weren't helping, and I was really worried. That's when I received the Barrier Oil as a Hwahae Tester gift. I thought I'd give it a try, and amazingly, the redness on my hands was gone the next day. I really regret not taking before and after photos. Since then, I've been diligently applying the Barrier Oil not just to my face, but also my neck, hands, and feet.
