I have dry, acne-prone, and slightly sensitive skin. While it's not extremely dry, even in summer my skin feels parched if I skimp on skincare. I used this cream twice daily from January 7th to 18th, for 12 days. My routine was toner-essence-hydrating gel or aloe gel-moisturizer-Dr. Oracle Derma Barrier Cream. When choosing a cream, I prioritize ingredients, potential for blemishes, and hydration. I felt reassured using this product as the Hwahae app showed no harmful or allergenic ingredients. Hydration: For winter, the Derma Barrier Cream alone wasn't quite moisturizing enough as a final step, but it would be suitable for summer. It might work well for oily skin types in winter. As the weather got colder, I had some skin peeling, but it mostly cleared up after using this cream. This product was particularly effective for deep hydration. Blemishes: Some moisturizers either dry me out or cause tiny bumps if too rich, but while this was slightly lacking in moisture, it didn't cause any blemishes during use. Application: When squeezed out, it has a thick, heavy texture with minimal oiliness. It dries quickly on the skin, so you need to apply it fast or you'll need to use more. It doesn't glide on as smoothly as oil-rich creams. After application, my cheeks feel plump and hydrated - not the typical moistness from a hydrating cream, nor the slick, uncomfortable feeling from an oily cream. As I've noticed with other ceramide creams, they seem particularly effective when skin is dry and peeling. I appreciated that this product is fragrance-free.
While there weren't any major issues, I found it lacking in winter hydration. If it had just a bit more richness, I would have been 100% satisfied. I wondered if it might have been better to have light and intense versions like some other brands offer.
Since the Derma Barrier Cream alone wasn't hydrating enough, I apply my usual moisturizer first, let it absorb, then layer this on top. If you use a hydrating gel, try mixing it with a facial oil before applying the Derma Barrier Cream. At night, I apply an extra layer of the Derma Barrier Cream on any areas that are chapped or peeling. After a few days, I noticed significant improvement in peeling skin and chapped areas around my mouth.
