And as I'm getting older, I'm noticing more dark spots - are they freckles or melasma? They don't fade easily, and my tanned skin isn't returning to normal quickly either. Every fall I find myself with the same concerns... This year, I decided I really needed to focus on brightening my complexion. That's when I came across this product in a vlog by one of my favorite YouTubers, Kim Garlic. I first discovered the brand Sandawha in my early 20s when my skin was at its worst. I was desperately searching for skincare with good ingredients, and that's how I found them. I had tried their cushion foundation before, but if I remember correctly, I wasn't too impressed with how it felt on my skin. Despite that, I chose this product among many brightening options because of my favorite YouTuber's recommendation (even though it was sponsored), its skin-friendly ingredients, low pH, and appealing texture. The ingredients speak for themselves... As someone who prefers products with a slightly acidic pH around 5.5, this one really caught my eye. The thin consistency also made me think it wouldn't cause the typical stinging associated with brightening products. When I actually used it, the texture was indeed very watery (it runs when it touches the skin) but with a slight viscosity. It doesn't absorb immediately - instead, it leaves a slightly tacky feeling at first, but then finishes by making your skin feel soft and smooth. One thing I personally loved was the subtle floral scent. Usually, I prefer unscented skincare products, but the delicate fragrance of this one actually improved my mood while applying it. Now, for the most important part - the brightening effect! I didn't notice any dramatic changes, to be honest. However, when I applied a generous amount with the dropper before bed, I could see a slight brightening effect the next morning after washing my face. While the results weren't as significant as I had hoped, it was still noticeable.
ConsDue to hormonal changes, my skin fluctuates between dry and oily. Currently, my skin type is oily, and this product alone is enough as a base. However, when I applied it before makeup, I noticed some pilling. The product description says it can be used during the day, but it's difficult to use as a base before makeup, which is disappointing. I'm not a big fan of the dropper packaging... Personally, I prefer pump bottles, so I wish it came in that format instead. As for the most important aspect - the results... For someone who was hoping for dramatic effects, I'm a bit let down.
Tip1. Apply before bed. 2. After experimenting daily with different amounts, I found that using one full dropper generously before sleeping gives the best results. Using a small amount shows no effect at all. 3. Applying before makeup causes pilling.

I think the ingredients are good too.
ConsEven though it's only 30ml, which feels a bit small, I still use it generously.

My previous essence was running out, so I was browsing Hwahae for products good for dry skin when I found this one on a great sale. After trying it out, here's my experience: Initially, I applied it right after cleansing (skipping toner). It felt a bit sticky and didn't absorb immediately. While it wasn't as quick-absorbing as a toner, when I applied it after toner in the evening, it felt more elastic, hydrating, and absorbed well. Usually, I wake up feeling dry, but after using this, that feeling was noticeably reduced. I'm still using it regularly, and as someone with extremely dry skin, I find it to be a pretty good product.
ConsI have very dry skin, so I usually avoid BB creams or compacts and only use sunscreen. One morning, after cleansing, I applied this essence instead of my usual one, followed by sunscreen. After a few hours, my face felt dry and the product seemed to pill - similar to when using a scrub, the sunscreen started to ball up and roll off. When I use it after thoroughly moisturizing with toner, it works fine. However, on busy days, I often skip it.
TipAfter using it for a few months, I've gotten the hang of it. Usually, I finish my skincare routine with a cream mixed with Rovectin face oil. Now, I apply a thin layer of cream, then mix this essence with the face oil. It feels much more hydrating than before, and my face stays moisturized until late afternoon with less tightness. In the evening, I apply it the same way (minus sunscreen) before bed. My skin feels less dry, and my complexion seems brighter. I'll continue using it for a while longer. For reference, I have extremely dry skin. Those with oily skin might want to think twice before trying this (just my personal opinion, of course).

Its hydrating power is not bad, but for nighttime use, finishing with a layer of cream would be even better. With regular use, you can notice your complexion becoming more radiant and brighter. It's gentle on the skin, causing no irritation or blemishes. I would definitely repurchase this product!
Cons1. While it spreads easily due to its runny texture, there's a slight stickiness after it dries. When applying makeup over it, it can cause pilling, which I consider a drawback. 2. I can't think of many other cons, but if I had to nitpick, I'd say the price point is a bit on the higher side...
TipFor daytime, I recommend finishing with toner - emulsion - essence. For nighttime, go with toner - emulsion - essence - cream. That seems to be the best method! Another pro tip: I often do modeling masks at home. Before applying the modeling mask, instead of using an ampoule, I apply a thin layer of this essence. The reason for applying an ampoule or essence before the modeling mask is that as the mask hardens, it blocks oxygen, enhancing the absorption of the product. So, applying a thin layer of a good quality product is a great trick!

Despite having super sensitive skin, I'm using it without any blemishes! I always apply it after my toner.
ConsIf you apply too much, it seems to cause pilling with makeup. There's also a slight stickiness after application.
TipMake sure to apply it right after your toner!

I recommend applying it in the evening. I was using a powerful vitamin serum (100% vitamin C) before, but this product spreads more smoothly and softly, so the application is great👍🏼. It has a slightly sticky and dense finish, so it feels a bit like a cream is pulling on the skin. You'll probably need to apply a cream as the next step to get a more occlusive feeling. It's too much to expect this product alone to fully hydrate the skin lol I'm not sure about the absorption rate.
ConsIf you don't let it absorb thoroughly, it can feel a bit displaced when you apply the next step. Make sure to let it absorb very, very thoroughly. As with most vitamin C products, there may be a slight yellowing of the skin when you apply it.
TipIt definitely seems to pair well with a moisturizer. You can get a nice, satisfying 'just right' feeling when you apply it. It also works well when used together with a vitamin E product.

I'm not sure about the effects yet since I've only used it for a short time.
ConsI applied the ampoule and then layered the regenerating cream on top, but the cream completely slid off. It slid off so much, like when you apply too much. You should only apply a small amount. It might be better not to use it in the morning.

Since it's a vitamin C product, I only apply it at night. I squeeze the dropper twice and spread it all over my face, and my skin looks brighter the next day. Haha.
ConsIt's a bit drying, so I use it in the winter and it feels a bit tight. And the price is a bit expensive, haha.
