Key Features:
1) PEA (Palmitamide MEA)
- Forms a soothing complex with essential lipids to alleviate skin irritation
2) Glycerin and high plant-based lipid content
- Replenishes essential lipids in the skin to prevent moisture loss
Comparison with Physiogel DMT Cream:
1) Oil content: Red Soothing < DMT
While DMT felt excessively greasy for combination dehydrated skin, Red Soothing has noticeably less oil. Red Soothing initially feels surprisingly oily when applied, but becomes more matte over time.
2) Hydration: Red Soothing < DMT
May feel dry if used alone in mid-winter. As a cream, it feels more like it's replenishing oils rather than hydration. Best used to create a barrier that prevents moisture loss. Recommended to use in conjunction with a hydrating product.
Concerning Ingredients (Cream Comparison):
1. [Physiogel Red Soothing AI Cream]
- Caution: Hydrogenated Lecithin (may cause acne)
Pentylene Glycol (may cause sensitivity/dermatitis)
Acetamide MEA (may cause itching)
** Use with caution if sensitive to oil-based ingredients:
Olive Oil / Vegetable Oil / Palm Oil
** Carbomer may contain the harmful substance benzene. It's unclear if Physiogel's carbomer contains benzene, and it remains a controversial ingredient.
2. [Physiogel DMT Facial Cream]
- Caution: Caprylic (may cause milia) / Coconut Oil (may cause acne) / Shea Butter (may cause acne) / Hydrogenated Lecithin (may cause acne)
3. [Zeroid Intensive Cream MD]
- Caution: Caprylic (may cause milia) / Stearic Acid (may clog pores) / Dimethicone (may clog pores)
4. [Aestura Atobarrier Cream MD]
- Caution: Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone-based, may clog pores) / Potassium Hydroxide (PEG-based emulsifier and pH adjuster, may irritate skin) / Stearic Acid (may clog pores) / Palmitic Acid (may clog pores) / Dimethicone (may clog pores)
** While ~acid ingredients are known to clog pores, some argue that the tiny amounts in cosmetics shouldn't be a concern. Proper amount control seems key.
I discovered this cream while searching for alternatives for my sibling who can't use Zeroid due to sensitivity to Caprylic and Stearic Acid.
Unlike the Red Soothing AI Emulsion from the same line, this cream doesn't contain 'Caprylic' and 'Shea Butter'. Therefore, I recommend the cream over the emulsion.
It might be worth trying for those who find Zeroid unsuitable. Despite some concerns about the ingredients, it's worth considering if you're sensitive to 'Caprylic'.
Additional note: While it didn't cause blemishes, I had to discontinue use due to severe itching.
