When choosing a cleansing oil, the most crucial factors are 'how cleanly it washes off without residue' and 'whether it's gentle on the skin'. The B.plain Mung Bean Cleansing Oil was quite satisfactory in both aspects. Let me honestly break down its pros and cons based on using an entire bottle. The packaging is simple and minimal. The transparent container makes it easy to check the remaining amount, and the pump design is convenient to use. However, pressing the pump all the way down can sometimes dispense too much product, so some control is needed! The texture has a good consistency - not too thin or heavy. It spreads smoothly on the hands without feeling greasy or suffocating. It melts gently during the massage, making it comfortable to use. The scent is very mild, making it suitable for those sensitive to fragrances. Its cleansing effectiveness is impressive. It easily removes waterproof eyeliner and lip tints. One massage dissolves makeup, and even mascara comes off cleanly with a couple more rolls. The cleansing power is so good that you might not need a separate makeup remover or micellar water. However, I still finish with a cleansing foam as I double cleanse when removing makeup. There's minimal residue after rinsing! Unlike some oil cleansers that leave an oily film, this one feels refreshing even with just water. It strikes a good balance by removing all the oil without leaving the skin feeling dry or tight. First-time oil cleanser users might feel some residue, but I found it less noticeable compared to other oils. True to its name, the mung bean ingredient seems to help soothe the skin. Using plant-based oils (like green tea seed oil) instead of mineral oil makes it less burdensome. The plant-derived surfactants from mung bean and mung bean seed extracts make it suitable even for sensitive skin - that's a plus! With consistent use, I noticed less sebum buildup. While blackheads didn't visibly reduce, the skin around my nose definitely felt smoother. It's a product that's great for long-term, consistent care rather than immediate results.
If it gets in your eyes, they might get a bit cloudy (but no stinging!). Compared to other cleansing products, oil cleansers require more time for massaging and emulsifying, extending the cleansing process. Using it with wet hands causes it to emulsify too quickly, reducing its cleansing effectiveness. If you're impatient and can't be bothered to thoroughly wash and dry your hands before cleansing with dry hands, I'd advise against not just this product, but oil cleansers in general! However, there's a reason many people use cleansing oils - a little extra effort can greatly benefit your skin.
For a more refreshing cleanse, massage with dry hands first, then add a tiny bit of water to emulsify. For sebum care, try warming your hands before massaging. It enhances the effect slightly. Also, rinsing with warm water gives a cleaner feeling.
