Throughout my school years, I never even used basic skincare, but when I became a college student, I went wild buying all the cosmetics I'd missed out on. Sheet masks were my biggest obsession - I'd buy tons and even did the daily mask routine. But when I actually tried them, I wasn't impressed. They weren't that hydrating, some left my skin oily, others were sticky, and I didn't see much effect. For years after that, I didn't buy or use sheet masks. But then I unexpectedly won this mask from The Hwahae Testers, and wow, it's the real deal! I had zero expectations, but I'm extremely satisfied. Texture/Scent: The essence inside is runny like water, but not completely liquid. It has a slight viscosity and feels super slippery. The product description mentions 10 types of hyaluronic acid, which might explain the ultra-smooth feeling. I loved that it's completely fragrance-free. Sheet Material: The reason I disliked sheet masks before was the material. Most masks don't adhere well and irritate my sensitive skin, preventing the essence from working properly. But this mask sheet is thin and soft, sticking perfectly to the skin. When I first opened it, I thought 'What? This looks ordinary', but when I put it on, it adhered like jelly! Even the nose area, which usually doesn't stick well on my wide nose bridge, fit perfectly. Hydration: The combination of the sheet and essence creates an amazing synergy for hydration. Initially, I thought the runny essence would dry quickly, but the unique sheet material holds the essence well. Even after 20 minutes, it stays moist. It's perfect for replenishing hydration in summer, even for dry skin types who find heavy skincare burdensome in hot weather. Stickiness: The typical stickiness of hyaluronic acid is much less noticeable than in other products! You could probably use this before makeup. There's a slight stickiness, but even as someone who hates sticky textures, I find it tolerable.
Whenever I'm not feeling well, I tend to get cold sores, so the skin around my upper lip and mouth is very sensitive. I definitely felt some tingling and heat in that area when using this mask. But that area stings with almost everything except aloe cream, so it's not the mask's fault. The mask itself is very gentle and should be fine for anyone who doesn't have extremely sensitive skin. The lasting moisturizing effect is a bit disappointing. While the mask is on, you can feel the non-drying hydration thanks to the jelly sheet, but after removing it and letting it absorb, my skin starts to feel dry again pretty quickly. So for those with dry skin, it's essential to follow up with a cream! If you apply cream after the mask, your skin feels deeply hydrated all day.
Using this after toning seems to help combat deep dryness better. If you have dry skin, following up with a cream after the mask is a must!
