1. Gentle ingredients + Mildly acidic The gentle ingredients didn't cause any blemishes. And being mildly acidic, it was great for morning cleansing. 2. Texture Usually, mildly acidic cleansing foams don't lather well, but this product has a foam texture that made cleansing easy. I think I'll stick with this for my morning cleansing routine. 3. Moisturizing finish Normally my face feels tight right after cleansing, but I loved how this left my skin feeling hydrated. The only downside was the slightly high price. I'll have to keep an eye out for sales to purchase it. Since I only use this product for morning cleansing, I didn't find any drawbacks during use. However, for others, the mild cleansing effectiveness might be a potential drawback. Highly recommended for those with dry skin to use during morning cleansing! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 29, 2020
Absolutely no irritation, it's fantastic! Unlike other gel-based low pH cleansers that can be irritating and don't cleanse well, leaving behind sebum, this one removes makeup better. The foam is incredibly gentle on the skin. It runs out quickly, and it's a bit pricey, so it's best to wait for a sale to stock up. Use it both morning and evening for best results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJan 30, 2019
I recommend this low pH foam cleanser for those with sensitive, blemish-prone skin. As a mousse foam, it lathers incredibly well, suggesting excellent cleansing effectiveness. The quantity is a bit small. It runs out faster than expected, unfortunately. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 15, 2019
Even though it's a foam cleanser, it's mildly acidic, so it's gentle and I didn't feel any tightness at all! I've finished one bottle and this is my second because it didn't cause any blemishes. The downside is its cleansing effectiveness! It's a bit lacking when used on its own. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMar 10, 2018
Gentle, low pH foam cleanser that passes the Hwahae ingredient filter! While it would be ideal if it had all-natural surfactants, it's still satisfying as a non-irritating cleanser that maintains skin hydration when rinsed off with water. Easy to find in drugstores, which is great since low pH foam cleansers can be hard to come by. The downside is that it doesn't use all-natural surfactants. Being a foam cleanser, it can be a bit airy, making the price feel steep. While it's not a deep cleanser, following the steps shown in the photo allows for a gentle, non-irritating cleanse. For best results, follow the steps shown in the photo. Use your fingertips to gently massage the foam onto your skin in a counter-clockwise motion. Even celebrities like Go Hyun-jung are known to be meticulous about their cleansing routine... - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 25, 2018
Being a mousse foam, it's great that you don't have to worry about lathering despite its mild acidity. The ingredients are gentle, considering it's a rinse-off product. Thanks to the foam, it feels like it cleanses well even with its low pH. There weren't any particular downsides. However, because it's foam, it does seem to run out a bit quickly. I've also bought this directly from France, and I noticed the ingredients are slightly different. Most notably, the French version has a much stronger fragrance. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinDec 22, 2017
In my cleansing routine, the role of foam is mainly to remove the residual feel of oil, so I prefer a gentle mousse-type product... It's mildly acidic, so it's not burdensome for morning cleansing, and the density and softness of the foam are better than expected... The ingredients are also relatively simple, and the lack of fragrance makes me satisfied. The opaque container makes it difficult to check the remaining amount, but that's the only complaint I have. The cleansing power may be divisive, as it's only at the level of removing dust and oil. It's not suitable for cleansing foundation or other makeup with oily residues... Since I usually finish my cleansing with oil, I'm quite lenient about the cleansing power of the foam. As the name suggests, the word 'cleansing' was not originally part of the product name. It's not a refreshing foam that thoroughly cleanses the pores, but as someone who believes that excessive cleansing can damage the skin, I'm satisfied with this product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinNov 20, 2017
This is a product I ended up buying after suddenly needing to go out for a few days while in the middle of using another product, so I just grabbed the one I had been using without thinking much about it. Avène's products are generally good, so I thought their foam cleanser might be better than what I had been using. And sure enough, it was the best among the mildly acidic foam cleansers I came across at the store I went to. It worked fine as a quick, convenient option when I needed something in a pinch. In the case of soap, the saponification process where lye and oils react creates glycerin, which is a moisturizing ingredient. Even without additional moisturizing agents, mildly acidic products like this tend to be less drying than regular soap. This product seems to be focused on the basics, without added moisturizers, thickeners or other extra ingredients. It seems they've made it a watery formulation to go in a pump dispenser, rather than a thick, creamy foam. This means it can be a bit runny when pumped into the hand, and won't come out as a rich lather from a foaming dispenser. But I've found this method works well for making my own foam cleansers too - it's more convenient and less irritating. It didn't cause any breakouts for me. It's a bit pricey. Watery foam cleansers can be tricky... Possibly due to the lack of moisturizing ingredients, I found it to be more drying compared to the cleansers I normally use. The packaging is a rigid, opaque container, not a tube, so it's hard to tell how much product is left. It's not very effective at removing makeup. It's better used as a supplementary cleanser. The cleansing power is mild, which could be seen as a benefit for using it gently in the mornings without irritation. Ah, I noticed it does contain propylene glycol as a moisturizing ingredient. But I'm curious why that's the only one they included, when there could have been other options to maintain the formulation while adding more hydrating agents. Avène is known for its thermal spring water, and the key feature of this water is the presence of various minerals, especially sulfur. Sulfur is known to be effective for treating atopic dermatitis, inflammation, and having antimicrobial properties. However, some people may have allergies or sensitivity to sulfur. If you experienced any skin issues with this product, it may not be solely due to the potentially concerning ingredients, but could also be related to the sulfur content, which some people may react to. Mildly acidic foam cleansers require careful ingredient selection. They tend to be less irritating to the eyes and don't cause excessive tearing, unlike alkaline soaps which can really make the eyes water when they get in. However, the downside is that the milder, acidic cleansers made with sulfate-based surfactants may not biodegrade as easily as soap. While this particular product doesn't use the most biodegradable surfactants, there are some milder, more environmentally-friendly options available, like the ones often referred to as "apple wash" surfactants. I believe a product called Muku Hara had one of these, though that did contain fragrance. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSep 7, 2017
I had small pimples and some large acne on my oily skin, and my skin was very thin with a slightly acidic pH. So I switched to a different brand's product, and I was very upset because I had a lot of red pimples. But I used this product without much expectation, and the blemishes shrank noticeably at a rapid pace, and the redness also disappeared a lot. The foam is not thick enough, so I have to use it right after pumping it out. I'm using a cleansing balm (coconut cream) from another brand as a first step, and then using this product. Using this product alone is not enough to completely remove my makeup. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinAug 10, 2017
It's good because it's mildly acidic and less irritating to the skin with its foaming action. The price is too high. Since it foams up, you end up using it up quickly if you pump it without thinking. The foam is not as rich as expected.
