I have extremely dry body skin, so I was looking for a gentle body wash. Before trying Weleda's Almond Body Wash, I used Dr. Bronner's Almond Body Wash. Compared to Dr. Bronner's, this one leaves my skin feeling less tight immediately after showering. Among Weleda's body washes, this has the gentlest ingredients, so I even use it on my face. The combination of sweet almond oil, glycerin, and shea butter is perfect for those with dry skin. The ingredient list is very simple. They've chosen a mild surfactant, coco-glucoside, making it ideal for those with dry skin who find regular body washes too harsh for twice-daily use in summer. It would also be great for winter when skin tends to be drier. I even use it as shampoo when washing daily, but only as a first cleanse when my hair isn't too oily. Since I bought it in France, it's labeled as 'crème de douche' (shower cream) rather than body wash, indicating it's not primarily designed for lathering.
As expected with products that are good for the body, it doesn't lather much. The foam is similar to that of a low pH cleanser. Since Dr. Ham Ik-byeong advised not to obsess over lather, I don't mind, but those expecting lots of bubbles might be disappointed. However, using a foam net can help create more lather. While the ingredients are simple, there is fragrance listed at the end. The scent is so subtle that I wonder if they could have just omitted it entirely. Weleda claims to use natural fragrance extracts, but without knowing exactly what 'natural' means (even petroleum is natural, after all), it's hard to say. Still, the fragrance is barely noticeable, so it doesn't seem like they've used much.
Tip: If you want more lather, try using a foam net. For facial use, a brush works well too. I usually wash with just my hands, no shower puff. It feels silky and smooth, making it great for massaging while washing. If you want more exfoliation, try using an exfoliating glove - it's less irritating than other products. Perfect for gentle skin care!
