I've been a fan of solid pot concealers for quite a while. They're great for spot application, and they're essential for covering darker marks like freckles or melasma that liquid concealers just can't handle. Personally, I've used Catrice the longest, and I've tried Maquillage, Shiseido, and Koh Gen Do. Recently, I switched to lighter makeup and was using The Saem Correct Beige. Tpick immediately stands out for its superior ingredients compared to other concealers. Let me break down my review with some quick comparisons! ✔️Size and Volume Compared to The Saem, Tpick's packaging is similar but slightly thicker. It also contains more product. Great value for money! ✔️Texture and Application The texture is just right - not too thick, but creamy enough to apply smoothly. It's easy to blend, making application a breeze. In terms of thickness, Shiseido's Spot Cover Foundation is in a league of its own, followed by Tpick > The Saem > Catrice > Maquillage > Koh Gen Do. Shiseido's texture is so thick it's almost sticky, making it tricky to apply smoothly by hand. Catrice and Maquillage also require some skill to apply evenly. Koh Gen Do is firm but applies thinly and smoothly. In contrast, Tpick and The Saem are creamy and easy to apply, making them great for beginners. If I had to split hairs, Tpick feels slightly thicker than The Saem and has a bit more texture when applied. But this minor difference translates to slightly better coverage. ✔️Coverage It's a fact that high-coverage concealers tend to look a bit heavier on the skin. Tpick offers medium-high coverage with a thin layer, and you can build it up for more coverage. Of course, this means the makeup might look a bit thicker... For small areas, using a fine brush instead of your fingers can help achieve better coverage with a thinner layer. The less product you use, the smoother it applies. It worked well even for covering thin-skinned areas like under-eye circles. Coverage comparisons aren't absolute as they depend on color, makeup thickness, texture, and application skill, but here's a rough guide: Shiseido, Catrice > Maquillage, Tpick > The Saem > Koh Gen Do The differences in coverage aren't huge, but generally, higher coverage feels thicker, while lower coverage feels more sheer and lightweight. ✔️Staying Power One reason I love pot concealers is their high adherence and staying power. However, even solid concealers can sometimes lack longevity if they're too creamy or apply too thinly. Tpick doesn't darken over time and stays put for 7-8 hours. It even looks more natural and gives a beautiful glow as it melds with your skin's natural oils! 📷 The swatches below show: Tpick Light Beige, Natural Beige, Dark Beige Below that are The Saem Triple Pot Concealer 01 Correct Beige (Clear Beige shade), Catrice Camouflage Cream 015 Fair, and Shiseido Spot Cover Foundation S100.
The adherence and initial emphasis on dry patches were slightly disappointing compared to other concealers. That's why a solid skincare base is crucial! Especially with Light Beige, as its lighter color can accentuate texture, so I apply it as thinly as possible. Interestingly, I find it looks more natural as time passes and it blends with my skin's oils. While the adherence is a bit lacking, the staying power is still good. Given the quality ingredients, I think it's a fair trade-off.
Using a fine brush to apply thin layers can help build coverage without looking too thick. - For perfect coverage even with a thicker layer, use your fingertip to warm the product and shape it, always tapping the edges to blend seamlessly. - Mixing a bit of concealer with your BB cream using a spatula can boost coverage while keeping it thin. Tpick's great ingredients make it perfect for mixing with other high-quality BB creams. The three shades can be mixed to match your skin tone. Here's how I use them: Light Beige - Great as a highlighter for under eyes, nose bridge, and between brows. Also perfect for covering redness around the nose. Sometimes I mix it with Natural Beige for the nose area. Natural Beige - Ideal for covering redness and closest to skin tone, so it's great for covering blemishes without mixing. Mix it with a dried rose lip color for a peachy tone that's even better at concealing dark circles, dark spots, and bluish marks from hair removal. (I mixed it with BBIA's Last Velvet Lip Tint) Dark Beige - As you know, darker colors offer the best coverage. This shade worked best for covering dark spots. If it's too dark for your skin tone, mix it with a lighter shade or layer Natural Beige on top.
