This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. I've been shaving more frequently this week just to write this review, so I've been unintentionally looking quite dapper! Let me start with the positives. First, the scent is reminiscent of a mature fragrance, but not overpowering - more like a gentle men's cologne. While I'm not sure about women's preferences, most men would find the lingering scent pleasant. It's like a mix of a fatherly scent that transitions into a soft floral note. Secondly, it's a double-edged sword - in a good way, it's non-greasy and refreshing; in a not-so-good way, it might feel a bit drying. However, I realized I wasn't using it correctly at first! The instructions say to use it within 5 seconds after cleansing. So, I started keeping it in the bathroom and applying it right after showering, gently patting my face to remove excess water before spraying. This method definitely reduced the drying effect! A week isn't enough to fully assess it though, I'll need to use it longer. Thirdly, the product seems to focus on skin soothing, hydration, and sebum control. It definitely helps with redness and puffiness, provides adequate moisture without excess, and excels at sebum control. On a scale of 5, I'd rate these aspects 4, 3.8, and 4.7 respectively. Fourthly, it applies smoothly and evenly across the face. The Hazzys brand adds a touch of luxury. Unlike typical men's products with harsh scents, this one feels well-researched and thoughtfully crafted for men's skin. Personally, I love the packaging too! The spray format is convenient, and the cap is easy to open yet hygienic. You can really feel how well it absorbs into the skin.
While this product has several good points, there are quite a few downsides too. First, it's quite expensive. I was lucky to be chosen as a Hwahae Tester, but I'd find it hard to buy with my own money unless there's a significant discount. I'm considering using it only after shaving to make it last longer. Secondly, I made a mistake when I first used it. I applied it with a cotton pad like my usual toner after shaving and washing my face before going out. It's not suitable as an exfoliating toner! This product should be sprayed immediately after shaving and showering when there's still a bit of moisture on the skin. When I used it incorrectly the first day, I felt a burning sensation and my face turned red. I thought it was too harsh to use and even worried about how I'd complete the review. Thirdly, while it's a mist type, the spray isn't as fine and dispersed as I'd like - it comes out in a more concentrated stream. It's better to spray directly on the face rather than using cotton pads or hands, as it dries quickly. I find myself using more than the recommended two sprays because it doesn't cover enough area. Lastly, while it's not overly harsh, it does feel stronger compared to my usual Dokdo Toner or Scinic The Simple Toner. It took about three days for my skin to adapt, and my face felt a bit heated at first.
I recommend using it right after showering or cleansing, rather than applying it with cotton pads or hands. Keep it in or near your bathroom for convenience. Some people might experience a slight burning sensation at first, like I did, but it got better with continued use. Just keep that in mind. I've had acne scars and redness since I was 20, so I'm a bit embarrassed to post photos, but I've included one taken after shaving and showering, using only the Hazzys Refreshing Toner. If you look past the acne scars and redness, you can see that my skin texture has adequate hydration. It also controls oil well. Overall, it seems to be a good product.
