While I usually recommend applying all foundations with a brush, this product is challenging to use with one. The foundation dries so quickly that it can harden on the brush, causing it to scratch off the makeup and making it difficult to achieve perfect pore coverage.

1. The shade isn't necessarily a flaw, it just doesn't suit me. Double Wear is known for darkening, so I wanted a lighter shade. My skin is around 17-19 in Korean shades. I bought Shell, the lightest shade available here, but it still darkened and looked messy. Upon first use, I felt like I was wearing kabuki makeup and abandoned it after one try. As someone who always bought the lightest shades, this was a wake-up call about the importance of shade selection.
2. As a long-time brush user for liquid foundations, I found this one dried too quickly to control well. I'd recommend using a puff instead.
3. I used to like Double Wear years ago. After losing my go-to product (post-Laneige Neo Cushion reformulation), I tried this again, forgetting I used to mix it with other products. It's so matte that it doesn't cover pores at all, and its thin texture clings to the skin, highlighting every pore (now I remember why I stopped using it). Once it sets, any attempt to touch up just makes it look worse. If my makeup gets messy during a night out, I'd have to go home immediately as it's impossible to fix without washing it off.

As someone who loved Lancome Teint Idole and Hera Black Foundation, Double Wear just doesn't work for me. I used Laneige Neo Cushion exclusively for two years, and before that, I went through 4 bottles of Teint Idole and 2-3 of Hera Black Foundation. I'm now looking for a new liquid foundation, with Dior Forever on my radar. My priorities are longevity, transfer-resistance, brightness maintenance (no darkening), natural-looking coverage, and decent pore coverage. Products that have met these criteria for me are Laneige Neo Cushion (pre-reformulation), Teint Idole, and Hera Black Foundation.

In conclusion: Double Wear is difficult to use alone. While mixing it with other products might work, it's not practical for those trying to streamline their morning routine. With so many high-performance foundations available now, mixing isn't necessary. This product might appeal to those with specific needs who don't mind its strong characteristics, but it's not an easy everyday foundation for the average person. Even if it looks good some days, it's too finicky and dependent on skin condition to be reliable.

1. The shade is truly for the fairest of fair-skinned Westerners - even those with Korean shade 13 might find it dark.
2. It's extremely matte - zero transfer and feels incredibly powdery (however, if it rubs off, it becomes a mess that's impossible to fix).
3. While it's challenging to use alone (even for someone like me who prefers matte foundations), it might work well when mixed with other products.

It's a shame you can only buy it through direct overseas purchase. I think it would suit skin tones between 13 and 15.

I tried this Estée Lauder shade that's only available overseas, ordering it directly, and it's incredibly bright! The ingredients are good too. It's a matte foundation with amazing staying power.

It's compatible with MAC pump dispensers, which cost around $4 and make application much easier. The photo shows the foundation with a MAC pump attached. Those with dry skin should really reconsider purchasing this. However, if you have oily skin and hate foundation breakdown, you'll likely be very satisfied with this product. There's a reason it's so popular!

The biggest drawback is how drying it can be. It's the ultimate matte finish - extremely dry. I doubt anyone with dry skin could use this comfortably. On very dry days, if I don't properly moisturize before application, my skin literally cracks. Once it sets, you can't touch it up later without the foundation pilling. If you apply this without properly hydrating your skin first, it's like a drought on your face. It can also accentuate texture. While it might work wonderfully for those with smooth skin, on my textured skin, the dry, matte formula tends to clump slightly, emphasizing imperfections. Thinking about it now, if I hadn't liked the color, would I have persisted with this product? Another downside is that it's only available through international shipping, which can be costly (I usually buy multiple bottles at once to offset the shipping fees).

The Alabaster 0N1 shade of Double Wear isn't available in Korea yet! You'll need to purchase it through international shipping. I've compared it with Banila Co's Covericious 21N Nougat and the new Covericious 19 Light - please refer to the comparison shots! Color-wise, it's a bit too light for me to wear alone, but it's perfect for mixing with darker foundations. I bought it to use with Banila Co's Covericious, and a 2:1 ratio of Alabaster to Covericious 21N Nougat works perfectly! It doesn't budge at all - there's virtually no breakdown. This matte formula sets within minutes of application, eliminating the need for powder (which can be both a pro and a con). It truly lives up to Double Wear's reputation for long-lasting, transfer-resistant wear. There's hardly any darkening either, making it ideal for those with fair skin. Any slight darkening I noticed was likely due to the Banila Co foundation I mixed it with, not the Double Wear itself.

Due to my preference for value for money and long-lasting products, I've only recently started using Double Wear and getting used to it.

I highly recommend trying it if you haven't! I was always curious about its top rankings on Hwahae, and now I understand why it's so highly rated.

When applying with the Guicami brush, the foundation starts to set on the brush by the time you reach your forehead. You might need to clean the brush or switch to a new one for touch-ups.

It sets and dries quickly, which can be challenging.

Despite its many advantages, I was disappointed to find small, millet-like blemishes on my cheeks the day after wearing it all day. While my skin wasn't uncomfortable during wear, I might need to find a product that doesn't cause any reactions even after all-day use.

It's the lightest shade among neutral foundations, yet incredibly popular among Koreans. I'm baffled why Estée Lauder hasn't brought it to the domestic market - pure laziness, perhaps?

As someone who prefers slightly lighter neutral tones than shade 13, this was perfect for me. Think of the bright flesh of an apple - that's the kind of radiance it gives. It's similar in brightness to Armani Designer Lift shade 1, maybe even a tad lighter.

My usual preference: Long-lasting, hydrating foundations without darkening. I favor high-quality foundations like Dior Snow or Armani Designer Lift.

I bought a secondhand Guicami brush No. 22 specifically for this foundation. I'm grateful to Double Wear for introducing me to this brush.

I applied after using Keep Cool Bamboo toner as a mist (about 5 sprays), CareZone Nordenau Cica Cream, and Riamec Perfect UV Shield sunscreen, with an extra mist spray. The foundation blends beautifully, creating an incredibly thin layer. It settles with a powdery finish rather than a silky one. Using the larger No. 22 brush speeds up application, which I love.

The longevity is indeed all-day, with minimal darkening, though the radiance fades by evening. Eye makeup with Urban Decay eye primer stayed put, while the rest of the face maintained its finish.

What I loved was that unlike other foundations that darken over time, this maintained its original alabaster color, keeping that fresh, apple-flesh-like skin tone. The U-zone remained semi-matte, while the T-zone became oily.

Definitely a foundation worthy of photoshoots and first dates!

If you want glowing skin but find most mists drying, try using Dalba's Supreme line mist instead of their basic one for a luminous complexion. Since it sets quickly and has good coverage, I recommend using tools to apply it. Personally, I prefer using a spatula and puff over brushes, which can be hard to maintain. I've tried many base products, but for me, Estée Lauder Double Wear has far more pros than cons. If you're particular about color and longevity like I am, I'd definitely recommend it.

Extremely matte and drying (especially for those with dry skin, you'll need a solid skincare routine or you might experience flaking and emphasized dead skin cells), difficult to touch up, sets quickly so you need to be careful when applying, can cause blemishes on sensitive skin if worn for long periods, only available through international shipping.

My complexion is around shade 17-21, but I prefer lighter colors so I usually choose shades 13-17. When Estée Lauder Double Wear first came out, I remember trying the original shade and finding it too dark, so I avoided it for a while. But now that I've found a color I'm really happy with, I'm excited to use it again. Overall, I'm satisfied with everything about it, except that my skin had a severe reaction so I can't use it anymore... I don't think I'll use it again, unfortunately. What I love: Bright and radiant color (no darkening), long-lasting without breaking down, great coverage even when applied with a spatula, matte finish without transfer, excellent adherence, generous amount that lasts a long time, versatile (great for mixing colors).

I have fairly light skin, so sometimes even shade 17 can feel dark on me. But after seeing a YouTuber use this, it looked so radiant and bright that I decided to purchase it from overseas! 

It's my first time trying Double Wear, and it's not as drying or matte as I'd heard. It's similar to other matte formulas I've used before. It definitely has a fixing effect, and I found the staying power to be excellent. I have no complaints about it breaking down throughout the day either!

What I love most is the color - it's truly brightening. Unlike many light shades available domestically that have strong pink or red undertones, this one doesn't, which I absolutely adore! It also pairs well when mixed with a slightly darker, more hydrating foundation.

The coverage is impressive too. I recommend using a spatula to apply a thin layer and really work it into the skin for the best results. The amount you get seems quite generous as well!

While it brightens, it's a perfect match for my skin.
It works great when used with the Too Faced Cloud Concealer.

I have cool-toned skin that matches shades 11-13. (I'll attach an unedited photo... My skin's been acting up lately, so I'm only showing my cheek.) I previously bought Double Wear in Shell, thinking it might work, but it was too dark. It was good for the outer parts of my face and blemishes, but overall it darkened my complexion, so I purchased the Alabaster shade. (For reference, no Korean foundation shades match me.)

The color is truly beautiful, the staying power is incredible, and the coverage is amazing.

The only downside seems to be that it emphasizes pores... I've tried pore-blurring brushes, puffs, and sponges. The pore-blurring brush works best for me.

Great for mixing to achieve a brighter complexion. As someone who loves to look radiant from neck down, I found this perfect when mixed with other shades. Warm Porcelain was too dark for me, but this one I bought from overseas blends just right. Alabaster has a very light ivory-pink tone? Due to its pinkish undertone, I switched from NARS Siberia to this.

I usually always set with powder, but with this, I think it's better without. Also, I'd recommend making sure your skincare is very hydrating underneath.

The only downside is having to buy it from overseas... Please release it domestically!

There's a reason why it's called Double Wear - it's absolutely amazing! I had preconceptions that Double Wear would be thick, unsuitable for dry skin, and set too quickly. But I was completely wrong. It's incredibly thin and adheres to the skin beautifully. You can feel how fine the powder particles are. For me, the most important aspects of a base are thinness and adherence, and this has truly become my holy grail foundation. There's no darkening, and it only transfers slightly on the nose area when wearing a mask. The longevity is insane - even without powder, only a bit of oil comes through on my nose. I'd say there's practically no breakdown at all. It doesn't set quickly either - it blends out wonderfully on the back of my hand with no feeling of rapid drying. But it definitely sets well; even rubbing with a wet wipe doesn't remove it! In terms of coverage, when applied thinly with a brush, it's not extremely high, but the formula seems like it would build well. The color is a light ivory, not extremely light for the lightest shade from a foreign brand, but it works well for me when applied thinly, even though it's much lighter than my skin tone.
