With a complexion around shade 21 or 22 (deep undertone), NC14 is a perfect match! It feels just like my own skin. This is my first time ever buying foundation, and I think I made a great choice! As expected, it's a bit tricky to dispense the right amount. I didn't want to use plastic, so I didn't buy the pump, but I think it'll be fine if I carefully apply it to the back of my hand. I'm planning to purchase a stainless steel palette and spatula to help with dispensing and application. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 3, 2022
After usually only using drugstore foundations and cushions, I decided to give this a try. I'm really satisfied with both the coverage and staying power of this foundation! I've been using it for about 3 months now, and I haven't noticed any issues so far. - pe*********Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedSep 9, 2019
I have combination dehydrated skin with blemishes. I can't use cushions because they're either too glowy or too matte, so I use foundation. This is my holy grail foundation! I've been using it for almost 10 years. I tried switching to Y** S** L** and D*** W*** in between, but this one suits me better. D*** W*** was a complete fail for me, maybe because I lack technique. Y** S** L** wasn't bad, but considering the value for money, MAC is the best! There are no downsides! However, since there are many shades available, I strongly recommend going to the store to test it out before purchasing. It works perfectly when used with MAC's oil and moisture balance essence! - dl**********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 8, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Sad skin indeed! 1. Color The yellow undertone is fantastic at covering up redness from acne marks! I'm absolutely thrilled! Plus, the shade 22 matches my skin perfectly! Totally awesome. 2. Application It glides on smoothly and feels moisturizing at first. Once it's fully applied, my skin feels comfortably dry without any deep dryness. Great stuff! 3. Oil control and overall finish After a few hours, when my face starts to get a bit oily, it gives this beautiful glow that looks absolutely stunning. However, this seems to depend on my skincare routine for the day. 4. No breakouts I was a bit worried since I had a breakout from a new foundation I tried before this. Thankfully, even with my super sensitive skin, this didn't cause any blemishes! Absolutely amazing! 1. Scent Not great. 2. No pump You'll need to buy a pump separately! I'm too lazy to go buy one, so I'm just using it as is, but I'm wasting a lot of product. Pumps aren't expensive, so I'd recommend getting one! (Though I'm still too lazy to bother...) Combinations I've tried (with the same skincare routine): 1. Skincare + Round Lab Sun Emulsion + MAC Strobe Cream + MAC Foundation = You know that weird texture where your skin feels smooth to touch, but looks like it has flaky dead skin cells? That's what happened. Though it could be because I can't do physical exfoliation due to my sensitive skin... Anyway, it wasn't terrible, but not great either. 2. Skincare + Round Lab Sun Emulsion + MAC Foundation = This was the best combo! There was minimal flaking, and it didn't break down easily. Loved it! I've tried various other combinations too. It works well mixed with other foundations, and I think it'll be great if you pair it with skincare that suits your skin type! (Unfortunately, my skin was in terrible condition when I tried this, so the MAC foundation couldn't really show its full potential. I think it would work much better when your skin is in good condition!) - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 8, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

As I continue using it, I'll try different bases and sunscreens, which can significantly affect the results. I'll update again when I have the chance🐾 ★Photo description When applied alone, MAC covered a light scar well. There was minimal accentuation of wrinkles. When mixed with Double Wear and applied to the same area, the coverage increased significantly and there was a slight sheen, which appears as white clumping in the photo. It's not actually clumped powder, just a sparkle. However, compared to MAC alone, there was a slight emphasis on wrinkles. I applied four foundations on my arm and tried to wipe them off after a moment... Except for the last two, MAC and Double Wear were stuck so firmly that I thought I'd tear a hole in my arm trying to remove them without water.... After Double Wear, MAC clung to my arm the longest. It's a shame it doesn't come with a pump. I'll have to look for an empty bottle lying around. (#Added on 8.5) ★Recommended 1000 won pump: When I used Double Wear, the 30ml empty bottle pump from Daiso fit perfectly, so I thought it might work for MAC since they're from the same company - and it fits perfectly! When placing them side by side, cut it slightly longer than the bottom. I bought it a few years ago, but the product is still available. If you're using Double Wear or similar products without a pump, give it a try. If you create a solid base and avoid making it too shiny, it can last quite a long time. I'll add more tips after I've used it for a longer period. - wk******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJul 8, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.* My skin type: T-zone and nose with somewhat large pores. Oily (combination dehydrated skin). Fluctuates between shades 21-22 depending on condition. No acne or texture issues, but skin tends to repel skincare and base products. Seeking a foundation with good adherence. Prone to redness, so I avoid rose or pink-toned bases. Looking for high-coverage foundation. #Product shade - NC14 Chose NC14 with a yellow base to cover redness. Color payoff is similar to Estée Lauder's 'Cool Vanilla'. On the skin, it matches so well it doesn't brighten, but looks like my skin on a good day without redness. The perfect match makes it hard to gauge the coverage level! #Texture and finish Feels runny but actually has a thick consistency. Fine particles give a smooth feel. Lacks the powdery, stiff texture of Estée Lauder Double Wear. Spreads easily and fills in pores well, which I appreciate. Very lightweight with a glowy finish. Recommended if you want a hydrating yet light product. #Coverage Satisfied with redness coverage due to the yellow base. My skin tends to break down layered base products, so I use concealer sparingly or just the foundation alone. No need for a separate redness-covering concealer. Achieves desired tone correction and coverage if you choose the right shade. Great value for 49,000₩. Will repurchase in a lighter shade when this runs out. Could even work well in a DIY cushion case. ---------------------------------------------- Additional review after nearly a month of use: Not many foundations have good staying power on my skin (despite trying many recommended products). Even in extremely humid, sweaty conditions, it didn't break down, clog pores, or clump. No darkening when applied with an air puff (though I experienced some darkening with brush application, which could be user error). This has become my favorite foundation! #Product shade - NC14 Chose NC14 for its yellow undertone to cover redness. Wanted a moderately brightening effect without the stark white cast some 21 shades can give. After reading online reviews, I realized N12 or NC12 might have been suitable too (note for those who use 21-22 shades). Darkening seems inconsistent. Some days it stays bright until late, other days it looks like I've applied bronzer all over by midday, making my face darker than my neck. This extreme darkening happens occasionally, so I just accept it. #Texture and finish I've seen reviews describing it as semi-matte or natural matte, but that might not apply to anyone except dry or very dry skin types. While I like how it's lightweight and enhances skin texture, as someone with oily skin, I found it gets shiny again after some time, even with powder. #Product design It's quite inconvenient without a pump. The cap doesn't seem to seal the product properly, causing messy leakage around the opening. I ordered a pump from Olive Young, but unlike the Estée Lauder Double Wear's snap-on cap, this one has a small, fragile-looking cap that you turn left or right to stop the pump action. I'm not a fan of these design aspects. For those with large or numerous pores who prefer using a sponge to apply foundation: Try dotting the product lightly all over your face with your fingers or spreading it thinly with a cotton swab. Then, pat it in with an air puff (I've only tried IOPE, can't speak for other brands). This method allows for quick, even application (great when you're in a hurry) and provides good pore coverage. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJul 8, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

To be honest, I have a fairly light complexion, so when I received the NC14 shade, I initially thought I'd made a mistake. The color in the bottle looked quite dark. However, the actual color when applied is much lighter than it appears in the bottle. I highly recommend testing the color before purchasing! While it's lighter than the bottle suggests, it was still darker than my natural skin tone. I wondered how to make the most of it, and then I remembered how beauty influencers often apply darker shades to the outer parts of the face and lighter shades to the center. I tried this technique and was thrilled with the results. My skin is combination dehydrated - I have large pores and excess oil in the center of my face, but the outer areas like my cheeks and around my jaw are dry and prone to dead skin cells. Previously, when I used foundation matched to my oily areas, it would look patchy on the outer parts of my face. But this foundation, when applied to the outer areas, gave a nice semi-matte finish while still feeling comfortable on the skin. Also, MAC foundations generally have a subdued, healthy-looking tone, which makes them perfect for this layering technique. When I applied it all over my face, it didn't cover my large pores completely, but it did provide natural-looking coverage with a nice glow. If the shade had been a perfect match, I would have been happy using it all over my face for casual outings. After trying it out, I like it even more than I expected. I'm tempted to buy it again in a shade lighter! However, next time I'd like to use it with a pump attachment that fits the bottle opening. As many have pointed out, the lack of a pump and the open bottle can be a bit shocking at first. I've used Revlon Colorstay before, so I quickly adapted. You can cover the opening with the back of your hand, flip the bottle upside down and back to dispense the right amount, but it would have been much better if it came with a pump. Make sure to test the color before buying! While I'm satisfied with the shade I received, it's different from what I saw online and even from how it looks in the bottle. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedJul 7, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

In summer, it tends to be more on the oily side... My skin tone is fair, so I use shade 21, and my facial skin has redness and yellow undertones. As I'm approaching my late 20s/early 30s, I don't get acne unless I touch my face. However, I do have some old acne scars. In my early to mid-20s, I tried various foundations in shade 21 from brands like IOPE, Laneige, Missha, and Bourjois. When I was studying in the US, I ran out of foundation and happened to stop by MAC. The American staff there told me that MAC foundation doesn't cause blemishes, and that even a dermatologist recommended it to her when she had skin issues. Intrigued, I started using MAC products about 3-4 years ago. But... when I saw on the Hwahae app that it has 5 caution ingredients, I was really shocked. Still... I haven't seen many people say they got blemishes from MAC foundation. Personally, I've been using MAC products without any issues. The MAC foundation I've been using until recently is the 'Studio Fix Fluid Broad Spectrum NC15' that I bought in the US earlier this year. The MAC foundation I received as part of The Hwahae Testers is 'Studio Fix Fluid Skin Balancing Complex NC14'. 1. Application It's not matte, but has just the right amount of richness, so it spreads well. I'm not used to using brushes, so I bought a cushion puff separately to pat it on. The puff does absorb quite a bit of product, but it allows for a thin, natural application. 2. Coverage - The advantage of MAC foundation is: it looks natural. It naturally covers overall redness. My face with redness and yellow undertones becomes less yellow, naturally covered, and brightened. (However, the brightening effect is better with the Studio Fluid Broad Spectrum NC15 I was using before, compared to the NC14 I received from The Hwahae Testers. Other features seemed mostly similar.) It doesn't completely cover obvious red pimples. To be honest, this is similar for most foundations or BB creams, right? If a foundation could cover that much, it would probably look too thick overall. For areas you want to cover, use concealer first, then apply the MAC foundation over it. However, it does naturally cover acne scars (slightly red marks). This is one of the reasons I consistently use MAC foundation. It does provide coverage, though not 100%, but it naturally conceals and adjusts the overall tone to be neither too bright nor too dark - just natural! - It doesn't emphasize pores, but it doesn't seem to cover them either. But honestly, I think this would be similar with any foundation. If you want to cover pores, using a pore primer might be more helpful. 4. Longevity and richness Since my skin leans towards oily, foundations and BB creams generally don't last long on me. Compared to BB creams and foundations I've used before (e.g., Bourjois 10-hour foundation: it felt like it just disappeared when applied, very low longevity), this one has medium-high longevity. MAC foundation has a moderate amount of oil - neither too little nor too much. So I think it might be suitable for those with combination dehydrated skin that tends to be oily. In winter, my skin actually feels drier, making me wonder if I'm closer to dry skin type, but considering I used this well even in winter, I think those with dry skin, except perhaps extremely dry skin, could use it without much issue. Of course, when I applied the MAC foundation without proper skincare, I experienced significant deep dryness. *** Packaging) There's no pump included, so you have to buy it separately. I remember paying over $10 for it in the US, but in Korea, it was around 3-4,000 won. It's inconvenient to have to purchase the pump separately in the first place. Using it without a pump, having to twist open the cap and pour it out... When you're doing your makeup in the morning, you don't have much time, right? It's a bit annoying. Just based on this, I'd want to take off one star, but the MAC foundation works so well for me... so I'll keep it at 5 stars. For me, who wants to cover more facial redness, I use a green-toned makeup base + MAC foundation. **Comparison between NC14 (the one I've been using) and NC15 (received from The Hwahae Testers)** I wonder if the NC15 I've been using is an older product... or maybe it's the US version. Anyway, its full name is Studio Fix Fluid Broad Spectrum. NC14 is Studio Fix Fluid Skin Balancing Complex. I thought the lower the number, the brighter or lighter the tone would be... Maybe because the names are different... As you can see in the photo comparison, and when applied, NC14 actually looked brighter than NC15. Personally, I liked that NC14 looked brighter. While NC14 was good, if I had to choose between the two, I'd pick 15. (Though I'm not sure exactly since it's not the Skin Balancing NC15.) I want to keep buying MAC. - mo*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedJul 7, 2019
I usually use shade 21. When applied, it doesn't give an overly bright look, but rather a natural color that blends well with my neck. After watching @b_byrim's video on Instagram, I bought it duty-free without testing it in-store. In hindsight, if I had tried it at the counter, I might have chosen one shade lighter. However, as time passes, I feel it matches my complexion really well. It seems to absorb even better than when I first applied it. I have slightly oily T-zone with dry skin elsewhere, and this foundation has a fluid consistency that's easy to blend. The coverage is a bit light, but the staying power is fantastic. It's a foundation I'm increasingly happy with - the more I use it, the more I love it! It seems this doesn't come with a pump. The container isn't particularly convenient for dispensing either. It's a shame to waste the foundation left on the back of your hand after application... I find applying it with a brush works best! - jj*****Normal SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJul 6, 2019Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

The shade I received is NC14. I usually use Dior in 00, lighter brands in 23, and generally 21 for other brands. I tend to tan easily in summer, but since I don't like getting dark, I consistently use whitening products and sunscreen. #What I Like First off, the size is incredibly compact. It's 30ml, the same size as the vitamin ampoule I'm using at home. While those who prefer larger quantities might find it a bit small, I think it's a perfect size for someone like me who values portability for travel or going out. I apply this product after my BB cream. Recently, I've been experiencing some blemishes, so I've been applying it more carefully over those spots, and it seems to provide good coverage. I love how it goes on moisturizing at first, then settles to a slightly less dewy, clean finish. It feels like it would work well year-round, regardless of the season. #What Could Be Improved The lid or stopper part of the container is a bit disappointing. When you twist it closed, it doesn't align perfectly with the glass container holding the product, closing slightly askew. It's a shame it looks a bit clumsy. Also, for liquid foundations like this, many prefer a wider, flatter shape rather than a tall one. While the height can be more hygienic, it can be awkward to use. It would be great if it came with a built-in brush or applicator. For now, I'm using it with a puff. As I mentioned above, using it with a puff allows for a more precise application. I'm using it with a Re**** puff and I'm quite satisfied with the results.
