The product is satisfactory in terms of spreadability, absorption, and moisturizing. I've been using it consistently from winter until now, buying it in bulk. The formula is watery but has a slightly soft finish, which I like. My husband has oily skin and I have extremely dry skin, but we're both satisfied using this product.
Cons
Even though I don't have any breakouts and my dry skin feels moisturized after cleansing, I need to apply this product multiple times as the first step. Since it doesn't have a thick or sticky texture, the moisture doesn't last unless I quickly apply other products. Personally, I don't prefer a slippery or sticky formula, and I find the lightweight texture of the non-pore-clogging formula to be more effective in keeping my skin hydrated, so I think I'll continue using this product.
Tip
For those of you with dry skin like mine, it's better to apply the toner multiple times to really let it absorb, rather than just a single layer. This will make your skin feel much more moisturized and comfortable!

It's gentle and moisturizing. It's great to use as a first essence, and the formula doesn't feel heavy even when layered. As someone with sensitive skin, I didn't experience any irritation.
Cons
I was expecting a sour fermented or grain-like scent, but there wasn't any of that. Instead, there's a faint synthetic fragrance when applied. While the full ingredient list doesn't contain those types of ingredients, since this is a trial product and not the full-size, I'm hesitant to purchase the full product.
Tip
When using an ultrasonic device, you can continuously mist the First Essence instead of using aloe gel. This way, you don't need to wipe it off after use, and it works great.
