The moisturizing effect is great.
ConsAfter using this, my skin became inflamed. The area around my mouth turned red, itchy, and my face was covered in small pimples and blemishes. My routine was similar to usual, and this was the only new product I introduced. It seems to be the culprit. Luckily, I was able to get a refund a week later, and they didn't charge me for the return shipping. Even from the first application, it felt a bit itchy. It seems the fermented ingredients don't agree with me.

This serum is so wonderfully moisturizing, I've never seen anything like it.
ConsI bought it expecting it to help with my dehydration, but while it is very moisturizing, I'm not sure it actually helps with the dehydration. It is moisturizing, but there's also quite a bit of oiliness, which is a concern for my already oily skin. I'm hesitant to use it, as it might be too much for my very supple skin. And when I applied it to my neck, it caused some blemishes to appear - it stung a bit.

ConsFor someone like me with oily skin, the high oil content irritated my existing blemishes and completely backfired. Sob, sob.

Nourishing milk-like ampoule The nourishing essence immediately makes the skin appear more hydrated and less dull. The oil-water balance is just right. 2. Good usage experience without stickiness There is no stickiness when applied, and the absorption is quick.
Cons1. The dryness wasn't properly addressed, leading to milia breakouts After using it daily morning and night for a few days, small bumps started appearing on my forehead. It seems the dryness wasn't properly addressed, and the milia appeared quickly. I actually have a combination skin type, where my U-zone is dry and T-zone has some oiliness, but in the winter, my whole face tends to be dry. Normally, I layer a thin essence (not a watery type) several times and then apply a hydrating cream, which helps with the internal dryness. But this nourishing milk-like essence might have been too rich, so I only applied it once and then the cream, which may have led to the dryness and milia. I don't want to layer this rich essence on my currently troubled skin, as it might be too much. I'll try using it again once my skin has calmed down. (The hormonal breakout I'm expecting soon might also be a factor, so I can't solely attribute the issues to this product.) 2. My skin becomes dry again after about 5 hours In the evening after applying, I can feel my face becoming dry again around 4-5 AM before morning. This could be due to sleeping with the heater on, which further dries out the skin. 3. No open-jar usage period indicated This seems to be the case with other Laneige products as well - there's no information on the packaging about the open-jar usage period, whether it's 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months. There's an expiration date, but no guidance on how long to use the product after opening. As someone who uses multiple products and opens them as needed, this lack of information is concerning, as I don't know how long I can safely use each opened product.
TipComparison to the Laneige EGF Essence The Laneige EGF Essence is a functional essence that targets wrinkles and elasticity, but its thin texture allows me to layer it multiple times, which helps address the internal dryness. I also didn't experience any milia breakouts when using it, so I've been using it well from the seasonal transition until now. In contrast, the Moisture Barrier Essence is a more nourishing essence, so just one application made my skin feel very hydrated. However, for my skin, I seem to need more hydration than nourishment, so the internal dryness and milia issues arose when I didn't layer it. I had to temporarily stop using it and go back to the EGF Essence. Even though the Moisture Barrier Essence is marketed as a hydrating and moisturizing essence, for my dry, dehydrated skin, layering the EGF Essence works better to provide the right balance of moisture. The EGF Essence is more expensive, but finding the right product for my skin is the priority. 🎀 The Laneige EGF Essence is suitable for: #Skin needing lots of hydration #Dry, sensitive skin that benefits from layering #Skin needing elasticity care 🎀 The Laneige Moisture Barrier Essence is suitable for: #Skin needing nourishment #Dry skin that becomes hydrated with just one application #Skin lacking both oil and water

My forehead and nose area had an oil explosion, but my cheeks and lip area were dry. The texture was quite dense, I'd say. When I squeezed it, it was slightly runny. Please refer to the photo. After applying, there was a slight stickiness. The fragrance of the cosmetic was just average - not overpowering, but subtly present. After using this ampoule, I had no dryness at all!!! I highly recommend this to those who have struggled with dryness. Even on extremely cold days, applying this ampoule and then my usual foundation worked well.
ConsWhen using this product, I used the same toner and moisturizer as usual, but just changed to this ampoule, and then I started getting breakouts on my forehead :(( There were also small bumps that appeared on the edges of my cheeks. So I was a bit disappointed...
TipI've been applying it only to the central part of my cheeks, where I don't get any bumps. Doing it this way, my skin stays moisturized, and I don't get any bumps, which is just great!

Since the toner and cream I was using before had good absorption, my skin felt taut when the cold wind blew, so I started using the ampoule. The texture was like a runny nose, with a rich feeling! When I used one drop on my cheeks once a day in the morning and patted it in, I didn't feel any tightness on my face even in the cold wind.
ConsIt doesn't absorb well... Since I haven't been going out much due to COVID-19, I haven't been using makeup, but no matter how much I pat and rub it, there's a bit of a surface layer that feels like it's sitting on top of my skin, so I'm worried the makeup will slide off. I expected a refreshing feeling from the hyaluronic acid ampoule, but it felt more oily than moisturizing, and a lot of milia came up around my forehead. Even with exfoliating, the occasional blemish and milia still come up... I wouldn't recommend it to those who don't get along with oily products.
TipIt might work well for those with dry skin that needs oil. I have combination skin that's dehydrated, so the balance doesn't seem to suit me.

I was really excited when I heard that a new moisture ampoule had been released. Since the ampoule is as milky and pale as milk, it seemed like it would be even more functional. As you can tell from the color, the ampoule is a bit less runny than typical moisture ampoules. When you apply it to your face, it flows down slowly. So it doesn't absorb as quickly either - you have to massage it in a bit with your hands. But because it's not as lightweight, it seems to have even better moisturizing power. There is a slight stickiness after application, but it's much less sticky than the ***, Aro*** ampoules I used before. When I layer the Laneige Moisture Cream on top, the stickiness goes away completely. There's really nothing as good as strengthening the skin barrier for pore elasticity. By building up the skin barrier and replenishing moisture, this is just perfect for my dry, dehydrated skin type.
ConsUnfortunately, I ended up getting a lot of breakouts, even on my cheeks, and small bumps on my chin when I used this product. I couldn't use it for long because of the acne. It's really disappointing because the product functions so well, but the breakouts make it hard for me to continue using it. Even the #1 moisture ampoule, the To** product, also caused me weird skin issues in the past. I guess I just have an unusual skin type, so I can't blame the product - it must be my skin's fault.
TipWhen used together with the Laneige Moisture Cream, you can achieve intense hydration without any stickiness.

When applied to dry skin, it does make the skin feel moisturized, so the hydration aspect is good.
ConsThe absorption seems slow and the finish is too oily, which is disappointing. Before using the product, my skin was clear and smooth, but after using it, my cheeks developed some blemishes, possibly due to the oily finish.

It wasn't too sticky either. I also liked that the fragrance was barely noticeable.
ConsHmm, I wonder if my skin is just different. Even though I have combination skin, I felt like there was some oiliness for me. I only applied it at night and went to bed, but just adding this to my usual routine made my skin feel dehydrated. My forehead and cheeks felt really tight. And then I started getting little bumps on my forehead that weren't there before. Using products with hyaluronic acid can sometimes feel like they're actually drawing moisture out of the skin, and I think that's what happened with this product. Instead of improving my skin, it just made it drier and led to more blemishes, which is disappointing.
